About Your Trip
Gilbert invites you to stay with him for the authentic North of Spain vacation exploring the magnificent trout streams and 10th-century villages nestled throughout the foothills of the Pyrenees Mountain Range. This trip is all-inclusive with meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinners all provided by Gilbert and his team. Dinners are also available at the local restaurants in town if you decide you'd like to explore the local cuisine as well.
On Day 1, you will
arrive in Fiscal around 3–5 pm. After check-in and a light snack, you will head to the river. Fishing will take place on either the Rio Ara or the Rio Cinca, depending on the water level. Two guides will accompany you and can assist with small equipment and landing nets. For those not fishing, there is the option to visit the nearby town of Ainsa or swim in Lake Mediano if the weather is nice. Fishing continues until 9 pm, after which you will return to the gîte for dinner. The meal can be shared at the lodge with the guides, or if you prefer, you may reserve a table at the Hotel Río Ara Bellosta or another local restaurant in town.
On Day 2, after breakfast, you will depart for Ordesa National Park. The day is dedicated to fishing in the upper Rio Ara Valley, known as the most beautiful fishing course in the Pyrenees for mountain trout. This is a rapid-water course. Non-fishers can choose to hike or explore the valley’s villages and churches, including Romanesque churches dating back to the 10th century, as well as parts of the road to Compostela. A picnic at the water’s edge is planned around 2 pm, and in the evening you will enjoy dinner at Asador de Fiscal, an authentic Asada-style restaurant.
On Day 3, after breakfast, the program will depend on your preferences and river levels. The morning may include fishing on the Rio Ara, Cinca, or Gallego. For those not fishing, Gilbert has arranged a visit to the city of Jaca, including its impressive museum.
