I booked a red snapper fishing trip. I reached out to the captain the day before and asked if we still on. Captain Troy said. “Yes sir.” There was not any mention that we would not be going red snapper fishing due to the weather. We get on the boat and he lets us know that we are fishing for reds since it is too windy. This was the first that I heard that we were not fishing for the targeted species that I booked. I was disappointed that I didn’t get a heads up even when I reached out the day before. I drove 14.5 hours. When we got to the boat our group noted that all the poles were rigged for inshore fishing. He did mention that he needed to go to a graduation, so I am not completely sure if he intended to ever take us on a snapper trip. The good news is he did put us on the reds. We caught out limit of reds and had a grand total of 28 fish. He was patient with our boys even though they tangled the lines often. One of the boys even dropped the whole pole in the water. If you are looking for an inshore trip Captain Troy wouldn’t be a bad bet. I still had to pay the same price even though I was not fishing for the species that I booked for. I understand that Captain Troy does not control the weather. However, we had lunch at the marina afterwards and see limit of snapper come in on around the same size boats. It was a good time. Communication could be better.

Response from Captain Experiences:
Hey Bradley - as you mentioned the weather can be tough to judge in advance and we encourage our guides to always err on the side of safety. Even if other boats are heading out, we don't want any of our groups to be put in a potentially dangerous situation, and sometimes this means making frustrating calls. I'm glad you had a great time inshore and we'd love to get you out on an actual...
