I’m Captain Paul a lifelong Louisiana fisherman and U.S. Coast Guard 100-Ton Master Captain with decades of experience on these waters. I was honored to receive the U.S. Coast Guard Certificate of Merit for actions on the Mississippi River, a recognition that reflects my commitment to safety and professionalism. Growing up in the marshes of Southeast Louisiana, I know these waters like home and love sharing that knowledge with every guest. Whether you’re chasing trophy redfish, speckled trout, bull reds, sharks, or introducing your kids to their first fish, my goal is to give you an authentic Louisiana experience. Fishing runs in our family—so when you book with us, you’re getting the Family experience built on hard work, local knowledge, and Southern hospitality. How did you get started guiding?

Marsh Monsters was founded by my son, Capt. Brandon Phillips, from his passion for Louisiana’s outdoors and sharing the excitement of bowfishing and hunting with others. As the business grew, I joined him, bringing a lifetime of experience hunting and fishing the Louisiana marsh. Today, we work side by side as a family-owned operation, giving our guests an authentic Louisiana alligator, hog hunting, and bowfishing experience they’ll never forget.

Depending on the day, you may spot dolphins cruising nearby, alligators tucked into the grass, bald eagles overhead, or flocks of pelicans and roseate spoonbills working the shoreline. Every trip unfolds a little differently, and that's part of what makes fishing here so special.

Every trip is planned around the conditions that day—not yesterday's fishing report. We pay attention to the tides, weather, water clarity, and bait movement to put ourselves in the best position for success. Depending on the season, you'll target Redfish, Speckled Trout, Black Drum, Sheepshead, Flounder, and other Louisiana inshore favorites using the techniques producing the best bite.

Whether you're introducing your kids to fishing, celebrating a special occasion, or simply spending a day with family and friends, we tailor the trip to your group's goals and experience level. There's no rush and no script—just a day spent exploring one of the country's most unique fisheries with people who call it home.
