Offshore Trolling Trip

About Your Guide

Craig Hodowanic

Independent Guide
Hop aboard with Captains Craig and Barry for a true Carolina fishing experience that’s built on heritage, friendship, and a shared passion for the water. Whether you're looking to chase offshore giants or reel in something tasty for the grill, these two seasoned anglers are here to deliver a trip you won't forget.

Captain Craig’s story starts in Cranston, Rhode Island, but his fishing roots run deep through both New England and the Carolina coast. Summers were spent boating through Bullock’s Cove and around Prudence Island, while back home in North Carolina, he fished offshore of North Topsail Beach with his father. With a family history tied to the East Providence Yacht Club, it’s no surprise that Craig’s life has always revolved around the water. In 2020, he turned his lifelong experience into a career, earning his Captain’s License along with a 25-ton Master and towing endorsement.

Captain Barry grew up in Pamlico County, North Carolina, casting lines with his dad in the Neuse River and Core Sound. He’s been running boats since he was old enough to grip the...

He’s been running boats since he was old enough to grip the
tiller of a 9.9 Evinrude, and by 2014, he was regularly fishing offshore out of Beaufort Inlet. While he’s only recently made it official with a Captain’s License, Barry brings decades of time on the water and a deep love for the craft—especially when it ends with fresh fish on the plate. Triggerfish is his favorite, and he’s always eager to swap seafood recipes with guests.

Craig and Barry first met on a throw-together fishing trip and quickly became close friends. What started as a chance outing turned into a partnership built around hard-earned knowledge, mutual respect, and a desire to share the thrill of fishing with others. Their charters reflect that same spirit—laid-back, family-friendly, and laser-focused on putting you on the fish.

Whether it’s your first time out or your hundredth, Captain Craig and Captain Barry are here to make it memorable. Book your trip today and let these two show you why the waters off Beaufort are some of the best in the business.

About Your Trip

The offshore waters off Beaufort, North Carolina are loaded with character, and Captain Barry and Captain Craig know exactly how to fish them.

This trip is built around trolling for some of the most aggressive and hard-fighting species the Atlantic has to offer. Mahi-Mahi, Wahoo, and Billfish are all part of the picture out here, and each one brings its own brand of excitement to the cockpit. These are fish that hit fast-moving lures and
bait with conviction, and when that rod comes out of the holder and into your hands, the rest is between you and the fish. Captain Barry and Captain Craig put you in the right water and set the spread, but the fight itself demands everything you have. Bring your strength, your focus, and your stamina because these species will test all three.

Your vessel for the day is a 35' Bertram Sportfisher powered by twin 420 HP Caterpillar engines, a proven offshore platform that handles the North Carolina coast with confidence and gets you to productive water in short order. Captain Barry and Captain Craig come fully prepared with rods, reels, bait, and tackle, so your only job is to show up ready to fish. Bring proper clothing for a day offshore, sunscreen, and a pair of polarized sunglasses to cut the glare and make the most of your time on the water.

Two experienced captains, a capable boat, and some of the most exciting trolling species on the East Coast make for a combination that's hard to beat. The waters off Beaufort have a lot to offer anglers willing to run offshore and put in the work.

Come find out what they're made of with Captain Barry and Captain Craig.

Coordinating this trip was a nightmare. I got passed around 3x. Lacking clear communication
& response time. Would rather have used another service or booked directly with captain
