Your guide Herman caught his very first Steelhead at age twelve. What began as a hobby in his teenage years, eventually became a passion. Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, Herman has fished in nearly every river from the lower Oregon border to the upper border of Washington, making him very knowledgeable about the very unique fishing conditions in this part of the country. In addition, Herman spent five years working as a fishing guide on the Chosen River in Alaska, and still occasionally makes it back to Alaska for a few weeks a year to enjoy their unique fishing.

After becoming very successful in the commercial finance field, Herman finally had the time, energy, and resources to share his passion with others. As a Coast-guard certified Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV), Herman is licensed to carry up to six passengers on inland waters. Being CPR certified, bonded, and insured for your safety give you the reassurance of dealing with a professional. About Your Trip

Join Herman for an unforgettable Pacific Northwest salmon and crab fishing adventure. This trip focuses on targeting two of the most iconic species in the region—Chinook (King) Salmon and Coho Salmon—while also giving you the chance to experience the fun and tradition of pulling Dungeness crab pots in productive coastal waters.

Depending on conditions and seasonal movements, you'll be fishing a mix of sheltered bays and nearshore ocean waters, following the fish where they’re actively
feeding. Herman uses proven trolling techniques to put anglers in the best possible position for success, working bait and spinners at the right depths and speeds to entice strikes from hard-fighting salmon. Whether you're chasing powerful Chinook or aggressive, acrobatic Coho, every pass offers the chance at an exciting hookup in some of the most productive waters on the West Coast.

In addition to salmon fishing, part of the adventure includes pulling Dungeness crab pots. This hands-on experience gives anglers a chance to see what’s waiting below the surface and often adds a rewarding bonus to the day’s catch. Few things compare to hauling up a pot full of fresh crab after a successful day of fishing.

Herman provides all necessary fishing equipment and bait, so you can focus entirely on the experience. The only items you’ll need to bring are light rain gear and sturdy footwear such as boots or Gore-Tex shoes, as conditions can vary throughout the day on the water.

Please note that fishing licenses are not included. Anglers will need to purchase a valid Oregon fishing license prior to the trip. A one-day license can be conveniently obtained online or via the MyODFW mobile app, which allows you to store your license directly on your phone for easy access.

Lunch is also not provided, so guests are encouraged to bring food and drinks for the day to stay comfortable and energized throughout the trip.

This trip is ideal for anglers looking to experience the best of Oregon’s coastal fishing—combining the thrill of salmon trolling with the hands-on excitement of crabbing. Whether you're a seasoned angler or trying it for the first time, Herman delivers a straightforward, well-equipped, and rewarding day on the water focused on putting fish in the boat and creating a memorable coastal fishing experience.
