When Captain Rodney was laid off in May 2016 from the oilfield, his son was also diagnosed with cancer. He immediately had to find an alternative resource to support his family.

He had owned his 27' Catamaran, "Revelry", since 2012 and figured he'd have to sell her to make ends meet. Instead, Captain Rodney's wife told him that he should put the boat to work given his love of fishing.

And the rest is history! In the first 5 months of 2016 his charter fished over 1,000 customers, and now, Captain Rodney & Co. have 4 boats in the fleet!

I'm 53, to wake up to 54 would be pretty nice!
How did you get started guiding?
After I was laid off from my career, I had a boat and knew a guy with a Captain's license. We thought we'd do some fishing to pay the bills until our jobs came back, but I'm still fishing.
What makes you different from other guides?
This may sound cliche, but my passion and love for the sport. I'm the quiet guy who's always got fish when I come back to the dock.

The guide was not inviting. He never introduced himself and had no concern for our well being. We had two guests who were sea sick and he never showed any concern. While he did finally agree to bring them back to shore, his lack of respect for us as customers and human beings was not professional.

Epic fishing trip! Friends and family fishing is good but fishing with these guys is great. Extremely professional crew (Capt. James) with extensive experience. They separate the real from the fake; they blow the competition out of the water. I give them two thumbs up, 5 stars, and a 100% recommendation.

Capt Marshall did an excellent job of putting us on the fish ! We started out in the surf but got tossed around pretty good. The capt. made the decision to take us inland to the Brazos river where we moved around a bit while catching a wide verity of keepers including a tagged bull red , speckled trout , flounders and others enough to fill the cooler box ! All in all , fantastic...
