Captain Anton got into fishing from doing summer vacations on Bass Lake, and he quickly progressed from Bluegill and Largemouth fishing to ocean fishing. He's been running charters since 2015, having earlier been a commercial fisherman.

Anton's favorite thing about running charters is all the great people he gets to meet and make lifelong memories with! The techniques he uses are constantly changing, every year or even every day. On his trips, he catches everything from Rockcod to big Bluefin Tuna, but by far his favorite fishing is for his bread-and-butter fish, the California Yellowtail.

How did you get started guiding?

I actually started out commercial fishing, then I got hired at the bait barge here in Dana Point. Noticed I was selling bait to all these charter boats that I knew I could be better than them so I decided to go and get my Captain license and start charters as basically my "college", 18 years old.

What makes you different from other guides?

I believe what makes me different than other operations is we have fun. I think too many charter captains try to act "hard" and never really give the passengers time to feel comfortable. We want to become friends with all our clients and make life long relationships. Hence why I have so many regulars. I enjoy people, good conservations, and killing fish.

Whether you're new to fishing the Pacific Coast or already an experienced angler, this half-day trip with Captain Anton is a guaranteed blast.

This area, between Dana Point and Catalina Island, is one of the most productive fisheries in California, attracting pelagic predators such as Tuna as well as nearshore species such as Barracuda, Yellowtail Amberjack, Rockcod, and more. Captain Anton is en expert when it comes to hooking fish out here, and he'll make sure to put you right on the fish.

On this trip, you'll focus on the nearshore shelves and reefs, dropping lines to hook up Rockcod, Calico Bass, White Seabass, and Yellowtail. There are also opportunities to pull in a Halibut as well!

You'll be fishing aboard his 36' Blackman sportfisher. She's a real beauty, and features a large bait capacity, a refrigerated fish-hold for your keepers, Furuno side-scanning sonar, depthfinder, bunks, full onboard bathroom, and a kitchen with a Keurig coffee maker! Plus, she has a wide deck to give you plenty of room to fight the fish.

Captain Anton will provide everything you need for a blue-ribbon day out there! Just bring proper clothing and your California fishing license and you'll be set to go.
