About Your Trip

Northern Vancouver Island is home to some of the finest fishing in British Columbia, and this full-day adventure gives you the opportunity to experience it with Captain Lloyd, who has spent decades learning these productive waters. Launching from Port Hardy, Port McNeill, or Coal Harbour depending on conditions, you'll spend approximately 10 hours fishing the protected waters around Winter Harbour and Quatsino while surrounded by some of the most spectacular scenery on the Pacific coast.

The day is completely customized around your goals. Troll for hard-fighting Chinook and Coho salmon, work reefs and structure for powerful lingcod and colorful rockfish, or head for productive bottom grounds in search of halibut that can top the 100-pound mark. If you'd like, you'll also have the chance to pull crab and prawn traps throughout the trip, adding even more fresh seafood to take home.

Captain Lloyd employs a variety of proven techniques including trolling, jigging, bottom fishing, drift fishing, and light or heavy tackle depending on the target species and conditions. The boat rarely ventures more than a few miles offshore, allowing you to enjoy outstanding fishing while remaining in the protected waters that make this region so special.

Throughout the day, keep your camera ready. It's common to spot humpback whales, orcas, sea lions, bald eagles, dolphins, and even black bears along the shoreline, making this just as memorable for wildlife enthusiasts as it is for anglers.

Your trip takes place aboard a 23' Duckworth cuddy cabin built for Pacific Northwest conditions. The boat is equipped with modern GPS, fishfinder, radar, live bait well, wireless trolling motor, cooler space, and a portable toilet for added comfort.

All rods, reels, tackle, and lures are included, so simply bring a valid British Columbia tidal waters fishing license, weather-appropriate clothing, food and drinks for the day, and your camera. At the end of the trip, Captain Lloyd can clean your catch, and local processors are available if you'd like your fish professionally vacuum-packed for the trip home.

Whether your goal is landing your first Pacific salmon, battling a trophy halibut, catching a limit of lingcod and rockfish, or simply enjoying one of Canada's most beautiful coastlines, this personalized charter delivers an unforgettable day on the water.
