About Your Trip
Enjoy the freedom of hunting at your own pace on 2,500 acres of carefully managed upland habitat during this self-guided pheasant preserve hunt in Forrest, Illinois. Cole and his team have created an experience designed for hunters who want to work their own dogs, choose their preferred terrain, and enjoy a traditional day in the field without being tied to a guide.
The preserve features 26 hunting fields ranging from 20 to 40 acres, each
offering its own unique blend of cover. From open prairie grasses to thick cover that challenges even the most experienced bird dogs, there's a field suited for every hunting style and skill level. The large field sizes provide plenty of room to hunt comfortably while allowing dogs to work naturally and independently.
Pheasants are raised on-site in large natural pens and receive minimal human interaction prior to release. Birds are planted specifically for your hunt, creating exciting flushes and rewarding opportunities for both hunters and their dogs.
Your day begins at the clubhouse with check-in and a discussion of your preferred hunting experience. The team can help customize your outing based on the type of cover you'd like to hunt, lodging needs, bird cleaning services, and any other details that will help create the hunt you're looking for. Once everything is set, you'll head to your designated field and enjoy the hunt on your own terms.
Each hunt package includes six pheasants per hunter, making it a great option for individuals, families, and groups looking for a quality day in the field. If you'd like more shooting opportunities, additional birds can be added to your hunt for an additional fee, allowing you to customize the experience to fit your goals and budget. Also, additional birds available to add to package such as quail, chukars, and partridge.
After the hunt, return to the clubhouse to relax, share stories from the field, and enjoy the welcoming atmosphere that has made this family-run preserve a destination for upland hunters for more than two decades. Be sure to stick around for Duke's famous lunch and the stories that have become nearly as legendary as the hunting itself.
Whether you're tuning up a bird dog, introducing a new hunting partner to the sport, or simply looking for a quality day chasing roosters, this self-guided pheasant hunt offers a customizable and authentic upland experience.
