How did you get started guiding?
KINDA FELL INTO IT. I GREW UP ON THE SHORES OF LAKE ERIE, IT WAS ALWAYS A DREAM BUT NEVER SEEMED TO BE ATTAINABLE UNTIL IT WAS. I HAVE AN INTENSE PASSION FOR FISHING. I LOVE TO TEACH KIDDOS HOW TO CATCH FISH. MY BOAT WAS PURCHASED TO BE ABLE TO GET VETERANS WITH MOBILITY ISSUES ON AND OFF WITH LITTLE TO NO ISSUES. WE PARTICIPATE IN SEVERAL VETERAN EVENTS IN MICHIGAN AND OHIO EACH YEAR. ALLOWING VETERANS TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE WATER, CATCH FISH, MEET BACK UP WITH BATTLE BUDDIES AND HAVE A GREAT TIME ON THE WATER FOR NO COST TO THEM.
What makes you different from other guides?
The simple understanding that money isn’t everything.
I don’t approach guiding as a race to fill limits and rush back to the dock. I also don’t believe in inflating prices just because “that’s what everyone else is charging.” While boats and equipment require constant maintenance, fuel, and investment, the focus has never been solely on profit.
I don’t depend on charter income to survive, which allows me to put the experience first. That means taking the time to fish, teach, laugh, and adapt to the day instead of watching the clock. It’s about creating an environment where families, friends, and first-time anglers feel comfortable and valued.
The goal is building memories, relationships, and lasting connections, not just checking boxes or running transactions. The fish matter, but the time spent on the water matters more.
