About Your Trip
Get ready to explore the legendary waters of North Mississippi’s Big Four Lakes—Sardis, Enid, Grenada, and Arkabutla—with Captain Goose leading the way! Whether you’re chasing trophy Crappie or simply enjoying a laid-back day with family, this trip offers a perfect blend of fishing action and scenic relaxation.
With years of experience navigating these lakes, Captain Goose knows all the sweet spots where the Crappie bite best—no matter the season. You’ll be using light tackle techniques
like trolling and jigging, ideal for targeting these slab-sized panfish. These lakes are well-known for producing some of the biggest Crappie in the country, and with Captain Goose at the helm, your odds of hooking into a few giants are high.
You’ll be fishing from a 24’ Fishmaster center console, a spacious and steady boat built for both comfort and efficiency. It’s fully equipped with quality rods, reels, and tackle, plus artificial lures to keep you in the game. Live bait may also be available depending on the day—just check with the captain ahead of time to know whether you'll be catching your own or hitting the water fully stocked.
Bringing the kids? Awesome! This trip is family-friendly, and children are more than welcome aboard. Just be sure to check if child-sized life vests are available in advance, as all kids must wear them during the trip. A few snacks and drinks go a long way too—because happy bellies mean happy anglers.
Don’t forget to grab a Mississippi fishing license before the trip. They’re easy to purchase online or locally, and it’s always a good idea to ask Captain Goose about any seasonal limits or tag requirements, especially for Crappie or other species you might come across.
Alcohol isn’t allowed on Corps of Engineers lakes, but make sure to bring sun protection (non-spray sunscreen is best), polarized sunglasses, a good hat, and plenty of water to stay cool out on the lake.
From setting the hook to cleaning your catch at the end of the day, Captain Goose has everything covered. All you have to do is show up, hop aboard, and enjoy the ride. Whether it’s your first time fishing or you’re chasing another slab for the wall, this trip promises tight lines, good times, and memories that’ll stick with you long after the last cast.
