About Your Trip
Step aboard with Captain Dalton for a relaxed, family-friendly fishing adventure in the calm, protected waters of Choctawhatchee Bay. Just minutes from Destin and the surrounding Northwest Florida coast, this trip is perfect for all experience levels—especially beginners, kids, and anyone looking to enjoy the water without heading offshore.
Unlike deep sea charters, bay fishing keeps you close to shore in scenic, shallow waters teeming with life. Whether you’re casting along grassy flats, working around
oyster beds and channels, or drifting over sandy potholes, Captain Dalton will put you in the right spot with the right setup.
These trips target a wide range of inshore favorites like:
Redfish
Speckled Trout
Flounder
Black Drum
And seasonal visitors like Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, Jack Crevalle, and even the occasional Tarpon!
With years of local experience and a laid-back approach, Captain Dalton creates a personalized and fun day on the water—no pressure, just good fishing and great company. He provides all the gear, live bait, licensing, and instruction you’ll need. Just bring your drinks, snacks, and a positive attitude!
Trip Options & Style of Fishing
3-hour trips (best for catch-and-release or quick outings with younger kids)
4–6 hour trips (recommended if you're looking to keep fish and cover more ground)
You’ll stay in Choctawhatchee Bay the entire trip, never venturing more than 2–6 miles from the launch. These waters average 2–6 feet deep, making for a very visual and exciting fishing experience, especially when sight-casting to tailing redfish in the shallows!

Fishing by Season
Spring (Mar–May): Warming waters bring active trout, redfish, and flounder. Migrations begin with bluefish, Spanish mackerel, and jack crevalle moving through.
Summer (Jun–Aug): Peak inshore season with great opportunities for redfish, trout, black drum, and flounder—especially during early morning or late afternoon trips. Occasional tarpon sightings and fast-moving ladyfish add to the fun.
Fall (Sep–Nov): Cooler temps mean aggressive feeding behavior. Large schools of redfish, active trout, and migrating flounder make this a favorite time for many anglers.
Winter (Dec–Feb): Quiet bays, fewer boats, and a more peaceful experience. Target redfish and black drum in deeper holes and warm water pockets—especially rewarding for sight-fishing on calm, clear days.
Whether you're a seasoned angler or casting a line for the very first time, Captain Dalton will make sure your time on Choctawhatchee Bay is safe, enjoyable, and full of great memories. Kids are always welcome and encouraged to join!
