I was born and raised in the country, just outside of Charlottesville, Virginia. At a very young age I developed a passion for the outdoors, particularly in the arts of fly fishing. In high school I achieved the rank of Eagle Scout; and accomplished this, in part, by creating an annual fly fishing camp for folks with various physical and mental disabilities. The camp is still being run over 17 years later. I’ve always been very driven, with a knack for problem solving. I graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Material Science and Engineering. An engineering job moved me South Carolina, where I had my first experience with tailing redfish. Shortly thereafter, I bought myself my first flats boat and left my engineering career to pursue my passion for fly fishing. I’ve worked as a professional guide and charter captain for past five years, running up to 220 charters a year. Over the past decade, I have worked hard, putting in countless hours to unlock some of the secrets the low country’s fisheries have to offer....

About Your Trip

If stalking tailing Redfish with a rod in hand sounds like your kind of day, then a trip with Captain Caleb through South Carolina’s Lowcountry is exactly where you need to be. From the marshes of Mount Pleasant to the flats off Folly Beach, Caleb specializes in technical, shallow-water sight fishing—with fly fishing as his primary focus.

You'll be casting from a 16’ Dolphin Super Skiff. With a draft under 8 inches and a hull
designed to quietly slip through skinny water, this boat allows Captain Caleb to pole you into places other boats simply can’t go. And when the winds kick up or the tide pushes you into deeper creeks, the Super Skiff easily handles open chop, keeping you dry and comfortable as you chase your next shot.

Fly fishing takes center stage on these trips, but Captain Caleb also offers traditional Spin Tackle. He has built his guide service around helping anglers connect with fish in the most rewarding way possible: sight-casting in shallow water. The stars of the show are Redfish—often seen tailing, pushing wakes, or floating just beneath the surface. Whether you're targeting singles on low tide mud flats or groups of tailers in the flood tide grass, this is textbook Redfish country, and Caleb knows every twist and turn of it. In the warmer months, you may also have a shot at Tripletail, and Spotted Sea Trout are a fun and frequent bycatch along the way.

Captain Caleb provides top-tier gear, including rods, reels, and a thoughtfully selected array of flies that match local bait and seasonal conditions. He’s also a patient and knowledgeable instructor, ready to help newer fly anglers build confidence, or help seasoned casters dial in their presentations for more technical shots. Conventional gear is available as well for those who prefer spinning tackle or want to mix things up during the day.
