Independent Guide 54 years of exp.
Kit has been fly fishing since he was 8 years old.

His father introduced him to the sport in the Catskill Mountains of New York. His father was one of the founding members of the Catskill Fly-fishing Center. While sitting in their camper on a rainy day, he asked Dad to show him how to tie flies. He's been actively tying flies ever since. His experience in fly tying ranges from trout patterns, bass patterns to saltwater imitations as well, also midges, dry flies, streamers and more.

About Your Trip

Discover one of Oklahoma's most treasured fly fishing destinations with Kit on the Lower Mountain Fork River inside Beaver's Bend State Park in Broken Bow. Nestled in the Ouachita Mountains, this tailwater fishery flows cold and clear year-round, making it one of the most productive and scenic trout waters in the entire southern United States. Whether you're standing knee-deep in the riffle, casting dry flies to rising fish, or drifting nymphs through a deep run, the Lower Mountain Fork River offers a fly fishing experience unlike anything else in the region.

Kit brings over five decades of fly fishing knowledge to every trip, having first picked up a rod at the age of eight and never looking back. His passion for the sport runs deep — from learning to tie flies as a kid to mastering the hatches and feeding patterns that define success on this river. When you step into the water with Kit, you're not just getting a guide — you're getting a lifelong student of the sport who knows exactly how to read these waters in every season and condition.

On this trip, you'll be targeting Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, and Smallmouth Bass in some of the most scenic pools and runs the river has to offer. Kit knows every bend, every undercut bank, and every piece of structure that holds quality fish, and he'll work with you to develop the right presentation whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced angler looking to sharpen your technique. All gear is provided, so you can show up ready to fish and focus entirely on the experience.

The Lower Mountain Fork is a river that rewards patience, precision, and presence — and there's no better way to experience it than alongside Kit, who has spent a lifetime learning its rhythms. Book your trip today and get ready to discover why this hidden gem keeps anglers coming back season after season.

Recent Fishing Reports

Early July 2026
It getting hotter out there. The water temperature is still nice and cool since it's a tail water fishery. What that means for the fisher person is it's time to think small again. Midges have been the majority of insects hatching. Followed by tan caddis, black caddis, and the occasional PMD.
/
Mid June 2026
Fishing has been excellent!!! They are biting that's for sure. Hatches has been a little slow with most of them occurring after 9:00 am. Cloudy days blue wing olives in size 16 to 20. PMD's (pale morning suns) size 16 and 18. Tan caddis size 14, black caddis size 18 and Grey caddis size 16. Early morning fish the bottom with nymphs or caddis larva followed with drys when they start hatching. It's been fun gang. Good fishing to you all.
