About Your Guide

24 Years of Experience
Profile photo of Captain Experiences guide Greg

If you're looking for a fishing guide in North Texas, you've found your guy. Captain Greg offers years of experience fishing the Rivers and Lakes of North Texas and is excited to share his knowledge with you on the water.

Regardless of your experience level, Captain Greg is passionate about turning your day on the water into the fishing trip of a lifetime.

Whether it’s floating the Brazos river or wading the Paluxy River which is a limestone stream, head out with Captain Greg on the hunt for North Texas Bass of your dreams. In addition to Largemouth Bass, you'll also be casting to Spotted Bass, Sunfish, Carp, Bluegill, White Bass, and more.

Captain Greg grew up fishing throughout Texas. He started fishing as soon as he was able to hold a fishing pole, and started fly fishing exclusively in 1998.

Captain Greg offers a wealth of experience to expert and beginning anglers alike, and can lean on his experiences fishing for Stripers on the Red River below Lake Texoma, as well as memories chasing Redfish of the Lower Laguna Madre. That being said, North Texas streams and Lakes are his passion.

Expanding his expertise in the sport, Captain Greg took up the art of Fly Tying in 2004, and a large majority of the flies Captain Greg puts to use are flies he tied. Captain Greg loves the thrill of watching clients catch fish on his flies, and even had the opportunities to fish with some of the greats, including Bob Clouser.

While he's been guiding since 2012, Captain Greg also earned extensive experience working in the fly fishing industry. From 2007 until 2008, Captain Greg served on the Auction Committee for the Fort Worth Fly Fishers. From 2010 through 2012, Captain Greg served a 2-year term as President of the San Gabriel Fly Fishers located in Georgetown, TX.

If you wonder where you might have seen Captain Greg in the past, he worked for Sportsman's Finest in Austin, TX from 2010 until leaving in 2019, spending the last 7 years as the Fly Fishing Manager.

While guiding on North Texas lakes, rivers, and streams for Largemouth Bass, Spotted Bass, White Bass and more, Captain Greg concurrently works as a Manufacturing Sales Rep for companies in the Fly Fishing and Outdoor space.

trip description for Walk-and-Wade Adventure in Fort Worth

Wade into the water with Greg for an exciting fly-fishing adventure on some beautiful Texas rivers! On this 4 to 8-hour fly-fishing trip, Greg will take you on a Walk & Wade trip out on the Brazos River or a smaller tributary such as the Paluxy River. Here, he'll give you some of his expert fly fishing tips as you target several fish species including Largemouth Bass, Spotted Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Striped Bass, Hybrid Striped Bass, White Bass, and a variety of the Sunfish species. There is even Carp, Smallmouth Buffalo, Freshwater Drum and Gar. No matter your experience level, from beginners to experienced, Greg is passionate about making your day on the water one to remember. Whether it’s wading the scenic Brazos River or wading the “hill country like” Paluxy River, Greg will guide you to a Texas sized, fun filled, fly fishing trip of a lifetime! Greg will provide flies, leaders & tippet, fly rods & reels (available by request, please make arrangements prior to your trip), drinks, snacks and will even do some expert photography to leave you with some pictures! Lunches will be provided on the full day trips as well. All you need to bring is a valid Texas freshwater fishing license, breathable waders, and we recommend polarized sun glasses, a hat, rain gear & clothing for the season and sunscreen. You are welcome to bring our own fly rod and reel. He recommends a 4-6 weight Fly Rod for wade trips on smaller waters such as the Paluxy River. However, on the Brazos River he prefers a 6-8 weight Fly Rod. Big flies allow opportunities to catch some bigger fish but require a heavier fly line. Big fish are also easier to control and land on a 6-8 weight fly rod. In terms of lines, he recommends floating, weight forward and shorter taper fly lines. On the Brazos River, there are times when an intermediate sink, or sink tip and full sinking lines are best. Enjoy your day on the water and catch some fish with Greg! Read More
