About Your Trip
If you’re looking for some of the best walleye fishing in the country, you’ve come to the right place! With over 20 years of experience, Captain Danny specializes in chasing trophy-sized walleye across the Bay of Green Bay, the Winnebago System, and the Wolf River. Whether you're looking to refine your technique or just want an action-packed day on the water, Captain Danny has you covered from spring through fall.
Spring (March – May): The
Trophy Hunt Begins
As the ice melts and the walleye spawn wraps up, the fish go into full feeding mode. This is prime time to land big numbers and big fish, with catches of 20-50 walleye per day being common. Targeting Green Bay and its tributaries—including the Fox, Oconto, Peshtigo, and Menominee Rivers—you’ll be using a mix of jigging, casting, and trolling to hook into hungry post-spawn walleye. During this time, 28-33 inch trophy fish are regularly caught, making it one of the most exciting walleye bites of the year.
Summer (June – August): Chasing Schools on the Flats
As the season heats up, walleye transition to mid-lake flats and reefs, and Captain Danny knows exactly where to find them. Limits of 15-20 inch eaters are common, but there are still plenty of trophy-sized 28-33 inch fish in the mix. You’ll use precision trolling, casting, and jigging techniques to stay on top of the most active schools. Whether you want to put fish in the freezer or hunt for a personal best, summer is a fantastic time to fish these waters.
Fall (August – November): Feeding Frenzy Before Winter
As temperatures drop, walleye bulk up for winter, making this another incredible season for both numbers and size. Trophy fish in the 28-33 inch range are the norm, with plenty of 25-28 inchers mixed in. Whether you’re jigging, casting, or trolling, Captain Danny will have you on the fish and teach you the best strategies to keep the bite going all season long.
