About Your Trip

Come chase down some of California’s hardest-fighting light tackle gamefish on a guided adventure with Captain Bob along the scenic Napa River and in the tidal saltwater wetlands.

Striped Bass are the primary target being present for most of the year with late spring, fall and early winter being the best months to catch the biggest fish. The main technique employed is casting lures on light spinning gear in shallow water.

Saltwater Fly Fishing is a separate option available to fit and experienced anglers capable of casting reasonable distances whilst standing on the bow and stripping fast for the duration of the trip.

A California Sportfishing License is required which can be purchased online or at any local tackle shop.

Captain Bob prides himself on customizing the trip to your experience level. He specializes in basic, hands-on instruction for junior anglers, making this a great option for families or beginners looking to learn the ropes. If you're a more experienced angler hoping to sharpen your skills, Bob also offers guidance on advanced techniques to elevate your game.

Everything You Need, All Provided:

You don’t have to bring a thing—rods, reels, lures, bait, and terminal tackle are all included. Captain Bob has thoughtfully outfitted his boat with quality gear, so you can focus on fishing without the fuss.

Kid-Friendly and Safety-First:

Captain Bob loves getting kids out on the water! Anglers under 16 don’t need a license, and children under 13 must wear a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket while underway (which he’ll provide). It’s the perfect outdoor escape for families looking to explore Napa beyond the vineyards.

This trip offers a relaxed, flexible day on the water with the chance to learn, improve, and catch something truly memorable.

Come spend a day on the Napa River and let Captain Bob show you why this fishery is one of Northern California’s best-kept secrets
