About Your Guide

Zach Goutremout

Independent Guide
Zach is a USCG-licensed captain, full-time guide, and professional bass angler based out of Chaumont, New York. He’s spent his entire life fishing the St. Lawrence River and Lake Ontario, developing a deep understanding of how these fisheries change with the seasons and what it takes to consistently find big fish.

When he’s not guiding, Zach competes across the country in the Bassmaster Opens, working toward qualifying for the Elite Series. That tournament experience carries directly into his guiding—he approaches every trip with a dialed-in, results-driven mindset while keeping things approachable and enjoyable for his clients.

He’s on the water year-round, constantly refining techniques and staying on top of the bite. Whether you’re chasing your first smallmouth or hunting a personal best, Zach brings a professional, easygoing style and a strong focus on helping you succeed.

When he’s not fishing, you’ll likely find him chasing whitetail deer or exploring the backcountry on a snowmobile—but most days, he’s exactly where he wants to be: on the water, helping anglers catch big fish.

About Your Trip

Chase trophy Smallmouth Bass on the legendary waters of the St. Lawrence River and Lake Ontario with a full-time guide and tournament angler who knows these fisheries inside and out. These trips are built around one goal: putting you in position to catch the kind of fish that make this region famous.

You’ll have the option of full-day or half-day trips, running from spring through fall when the bite is at its best. The St.
Lawrence River, in particular, is widely regarded as one of the top trophy smallmouth fisheries in the country, with legitimate shots at 5–8 lb class fish every season. Whether you’re fishing current seams, rocky structure, or offshore shoals, every cast has the potential to connect with something special.

Trips are fully guided and tailored to both conditions and your experience level. You’ll be fishing with a mix of proven techniques—typically spinning gear, finesse presentations, and other seasonal patterns that consistently produce on these waters. Along the way, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of how to locate bass throughout the year, how weather and water conditions impact their behavior, and how to dial in the right bait and presentation for the situation. If you’re interested, you can also learn how to better use electronics to find and stay on fish.

This is a hands-on, engaging experience whether you’re brand new to bass fishing or looking to sharpen your approach. The focus is always on staying on active fish, making adjustments throughout the day, and giving you the best possible shot at landing a true trophy.
