Hans be your guide to the magic of the Keys, where the only footprints in the sand are yours.

We can tailor our trips to fit your needs, with options ranging from four to eight hours. Whether you’re a small group of two or a larger party of 18, we can accommodate everyone on three different boats, each carrying up to six people.

You know, almost any boat can stumble upon a sandbar in the Florida Keys, but only a select few can truly conquer the trickiest waters where we find the most stunning sandbars.

Our mission is to provide our guests with an unparalleled experience, showcasing the most captivating marine landscapes surrounding Key West. A Key West Sandbar charter extends beyond a simple excursion to and from a sandbar. We embark on a journey through the most scenic and shallow passages connecting Key West to some of the most picturesque sandbars and islands within the Florida Keys.

My name is Hans and I’m a Captain and co-owner, and I’m just a lifelong island boy who loves the water. I started my life in the keys as a transplant from Kodiak Alaska at the age of 9. And my sea legs didn’t kick in until I was a teenager working as a sailing instructor and parasail mate down at Smathers Beach here in Key West. From that first salty breeze, and that crazy sun bleached lifestyle, I was hooked. Fast forward 35 years—I’ve been a parasail captain, a mechanic, a business owner, and a wandering beach boy - you name it. I’ve had the honor (and a whole lot of fun) introducing folks to the wild, wonderful world of the ocean all around the country and the world. But, in my experience, nothing beats the colors changes in the shallow complex waters of the Lower Florida Keys Backcountry.

Back in the day, my buddies and I used to tear around the mangrove islands, zipping through shallow water channels that didn’t even have markers. We’d get lost, laugh about it (“helloooo….compassss?!”- Paxton 😆), and then find our way back. Those adventures sparked my love for exploring—finding those hidden gems off the beaten path. That’s what I still love doing: showing people spots they’d never find on their own.

Rapid Fire Guide Q & A

What’s the biggest fish you’ve caught?
While I’ve never been a good angler, some of my closest friends are some of the best. I’ve Blue Marlin at a couple hundred pounds and Tuna just under a hundred pounds. But none of them can find their way to the sandbars I know.
If you were cooking for all your friends what would you cook?
Blackened Hogfish

What’s your favorite band?
My favorite band isn’t as important as yours. But I listen across many different genres.
What’s your favorite movie?
I don’t have a favorite, but I like it when things blow up and there is lots of action.
What’s your favorite sports team?
I’m a life long Oakland Raiders fan. And they finally moved a little closer to me!
What’s your drink of choice?
Corona Light on a boat, and Woodford in a bar.
What was your last halloween costume?
The Cat in a Hat
What do you want for Christmas this year?
A female Labrador, but I’m not particular about the color.
How did you get started guiding?
I got a job as a mate on a parasail boat as a teenager, and have been on the water ever since.
What makes you different from other guides?
I’d rather run the more challenging water to find the nicer sandbar.
