Captain Julien runs this seasonal blackfin tuna charter out of Stock Island aboard a 33-foot Invincible center console, available April through June when blackfin are running thick around the shrimp boats working the Gulf. This eight to ten hour trip is built specifically around that window, capitalizing on one of the most exciting and reliable tuna bites the Florida Keys have to offer.

The shrimp boats are the draw. Their nightly activity attracts bait, and bait attracts blackfin tuna in numbers that make this run worth the distance. Getting there involves a scenic two-hour boat ride each way, part of the experience itself as you head out into open Gulf water aboard a boat built for the run. Once on the grounds, the focus shifts entirely to working the chum lines and structure around the shrimp boats, where blackfin tuna feed aggressively when conditions align.

With a maximum of four passengers, this trip stays intimate by design. Fewer anglers means more room to fight fish without tangled lines, more individual attention from Captain Julien, and an overall smoother experience when multiple fish are hooked at once, which happens often when blackfin are schooled up and feeding.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 7 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 7 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.
