About Your Trip

With over 30 years of fly fishing experience, Captain Mark offers a one-of-a-kind angling adventure through the creeks, grass flats, and mudflats of Hilton Head Island. Whether you're sight-fishing for tailing reds on flood tides or poling through skinny water in search of laid-up bruisers, Mark goes where the fish are—no matter the tide, season, or challenge.

A patient and skilled teacher, Mark welcomes beginners and seasoned fly anglers alike. If it’s your first time,
he’ll help you fine-tune your cast on dry land before launching, and always carries light tackle as a backup so everyone can get in on the action. His 17’ Maverick skiff is ideal for navigating the shallow, winding backwaters that make the Lowcountry such a world-class fishery.

You’ll fish with top-tier gear, including G. Loomis NRX rods, Nautilus reels, and custom-tied flies designed specifically for Hilton Head, Beaufort, and Savannah waters. From year-round redfish and speckled trout to seasonal shots at cobia, jack crevalle, tripletail, Spanish mackerel, sharks, and even tarpon, every trip is tailored to what’s biting and where the conditions are best.

Mark trailers his boat to the best ramp based on wind and tides—always prioritizing your time on the fish. Along the way, you’ll experience the beauty and wildlife of the Lowcountry, with frequent sightings of dolphins, manatees, turtles, and a variety of coastal birds. These waters are rich in both life and history, and Mark loves to share stories about the area as you fish.

What’s Included:

- Premium fly and light tackle gear
- Custom flies, all leaders, and tackle
- Lunch on full-day trips

All you need to bring is sunscreen, sunglasses, a rain jacket, any personal snacks or drinks—and a good attitude.

About Your Guide

Mark N.

Independent Guide
Captain Mark brings a world-class angling background to the South Carolina Lowcountry. Raised in the Northeast, he cut his teeth fly fishing for some of the Atlantic’s toughest gamefish, learning directly from legends like Bob Popovics and Dave Skok. By the time most kids were tying ties, Mark was tying flies commercially for local shops.

His fishing journey took him to Nicaragua and Costa Rica, where he guided professionally and mastered the skills of rigging, boat handling, and bluewater tactics
in some of the world’s most renowned fisheries. After serving honorably in the U.S. Navy, Mark continued his angling adventures across the globe, landing bucket-list species like Tarpon, Bonefish, and Permit on the fly.

But it was the redfish that truly stole his heart. That obsession brought him to the Lowcountry, where he now calls these dark, tidal waters home. With decades of experience and a relentless passion for the sport, Captain Mark delivers unforgettable days on the water, sharing his hard-earned knowledge with every cast.

Whether you’re new to the fly game or chasing your personal best, Mark’s calm demeanor, technical expertise, and infectious energy make him the kind of guide you’ll want to fish with again and again.
