First and foremost, kids are welcome! We will have “Good Times” on
the water.

Fall through Spring once the weather cools down. I am pretty flexible with the fishing schedule. Meeting at 8am or later to catch the right tide to get the best bite. I am all in. Meeting locations are at Anna Marina Island, Bradenton or Palmetto.

We will be live bait fishing targeting different species of fish depending on the weather. We have excellent Snook, Redfish and Trout fishing Spring and Fall. Winter on cold days we tend to do a lot more structure fishing targeting Sheepshead and Snapper.

Through the summer once the weather warms up. I would prefer and earlier start at 6 am if possible just because it is hot. During the summer months we target Snook, Redfish and Trout inshore live bait fishing.

Independent Guide
As kids fishing was our addictive substance. We fished our butts off. If we were not on a boat, we were wade fishing or pond jumping in a Jon Boat on a Lake fishing for bass.

Capt. Wayne is a local native fishing and boating on the Tampa Bay and its surrounding waters for over 40 years. Growing up on the Tampa Bay. My father would take us fishing. We had a great boat! I would love to have one
today. It was a 213 Chris Craft Scorpion with a 200 Black Max Mercury. We fished Terra Ceia Bay, Miguel Bay and the Manatee River for Snook, Redfish and Trout. We fished the Sarasota Bay and Anna Maria Island for Sheepshead and Trout. We also did a lot of offshore trips catching Grouper and Snapper. It was a great versatile boat that I gained a ton of experience captaining at a young age. I was maybe 10 or 11 years old, I would back the boat off the trailer. I would captain the boat 30 plus miles offshore. Then captain the boat back and drive it on the trailer.

When the Capt. was in high school pops had a smaller boat. Boy we wore that boat out. Me and a cousin or friend was out every day available. We day fished, we fished at night, we fished in the rain. It did not matter fishing was better than Christmas! Lord back in the early nineties me and my cousin Captain Roy Johnson. We slap wore out the Snook night fishing every trip. We had it down pat. We would go to Longboat Pass with a dip net. We would net 20 or so Ballahoo. Then to Moore Stone Crab Restaurant about midnight once they closed. FISH ON!

I have always been addicted to the water. In my early years I worked a couple of boat companies. Then one day I decided I did not want to pursue that career. So I got my Captains license and started running fishing charters back in 2003/2004. Boy did we have a lot of fun! Back then you were a fishing guide. We caught a ton of fish Snook, Redfish, Trout, Tarpon, Sheepshead, Snapper and Grouper all in the bay. It was great till the recession 2006 -2008. Then life takes you on a different path. Long story short, again I was working my butt off just like 2002. Then Covid happened. I told my wife its time to have some FUN again! And that’s were we are today! Fishing is my passion. I want to share my experiences on the Tampa Bay that I experienced as a child and that I experience today. We live in a beautiful place, hire an old school fishing guide to take you fishing, snorkeling or a private adventure island hopping! It will be “GOOD TIMES”.

The Ride and Equipment

The ride is a 2021 Hewes 21 Redfisher is a big comfortable fishing platform. It has a great ride, it runs skinny, there is a ton of space and catches fish. I went with the Hewes Redfisher because the quality of build is outstanding. I have been on a ton of boats over the years; flats boats, bay boats and offshore boats. If you want performance, great fuel economy, a great ride and a ton of space.

The ride is powered with a 250 Yamaha, its loaded with the best of equipment. Garmin electronics, a Garmin Kraken trolling motor and a Power Pole. It has big live wells for a ton of bait for fishing and a ton of storage. We can fish hard or island hop with a bimini top, seating with a backrest and bean bags.

Rapid Fire Guide Q & A

What’s the biggest fish you’ve caught?
Personally, I have caught plenty of great fish over my lifetime both saltwater and freshwater fishing. My most memorable fish was a 46" Snook. These fish were in a pothole in a bay just off the Tampa Bay. I fished this school of Snook for a couple of weeks. They were all LOGS! I ran through there one day fun fishing and dumped a bunch of bait. Then made a cast and BAM! A SMOKER on the line! That big girl laid out at 46". Its a personal best that I am sure will not be beaten by myself. The biggest fish ever was on my boat. My old man of Fathers Day. The landed a 300+ pound Goliath Grouper. We had our limit on Gags and the last Gag Grouper pops was reeling in was eaten at the side of the boat by a GIANT GOLIATH GROUPER. After 2 hours he landed that beast. The we had a live release.
If you were cooking for all your friends what would you cook?
That is simple. Fish Fry, What's fresh from a lake or a bay with all the trimmings. Maybe fish, grits and some Hushpuppies. Or maybe just a good Ole Hamburger.

What’s your favorite band?
I have a little Redneck in me, Hank Williams Jr or maybe David Allen Coe. Tough decision.
What’s your favorite movie?
Caddyshack - Classic
What’s your favorite sports team?
Miami Hurricanes Old School
What’s your drink of choice?
In Order Sweet tea am - Water all day - then its 5 o'clock somewhere - definitely after 5pm - Titos, Cranberry with Lime.
What was your last halloween costume?
A fishing guide.
What do you want for Christmas this year?
To win the crazy lottery. Its like 1.5 Billion!
How did you get started guiding?
It all started by a passion for fishing. Then I bought a boat and started guiding. Heck I have fished here my whole life like a crack head from childhood to today. There is nothing hard about it. Catch bait and catch fish. At least that's what I thought in my younger days. I started with a nice boat. It had a tower built and a huge livewell but it was just the wrong boat. Just to small. Unfortunately, then I had no money and could barely afford the payment when I started out. A few years later the right boat came along and its a beast! I got a little older and got a little smarter. When you book with Capt. Wayne. We fly first class aboard a Hewes 21 Redfisher with tons of space and a comfortable ride. She rides well in seas and drafts shallow water. Welcome aboard Cadillac Style!
What makes you different from other guides?
There are a few things. Personality and patience, kids are welcome. They will have a great time from catching fish or if they need a break to take a swim. It is hot in the summer sometimes a kid just needs a break. If you are looking for more of a hard core fishing trip. Yes we can do that too. This is not some cookie cutter operation. It your day on the water. We will fish for the mother nature gives us. If want to go out and throw lures all day, I am your guy. Live bait fishing and catch some Snook or Trout. Maybe jump a Tarpon. Or chase bait schools to catch Mackerel or King Mackerel. I am here to have a GREAT TIME! And so are YOU!
