Want to give a big, "Thanks!" to Jonathan at Captain Experiences for hooking me and my family up with Captain Mike and Daisy out of Surfside Beach, TX.
Captain Mike took us right where the fish were right off the bat on our first stop where we caught our limit of red snapper including a 32", 22 pounder! We were also able to "rescue" some king fish out of the water as well.

Mike was great with our two kids. He was extremely patient and chill even during a situation where some equipment got damaged. We went to several different spots to find the fish, and he let everyone fish to their ability.

This was unconditionally the worst fishing trip I have EVER booked! To begin with Captain Mike contacted me 20 minutes before departure time to say it was light rain, he was still at home, would "go check the gulf soon". We were waiting at departure spot. Captain Mike showed up 2 hours late! We left Surfside about 10am after watching four other boats take off beginning at 7am. Trip was called "Up to 50 Miler"....

Trip was called "Up to 50 Miler". Captain Mike went out about 24-28 miles. He drove around in circles for about 2-3 hours. Then at 2pm he started heading back to Surfside after 2-1/2 to 3 hours of fishing. Then he stopped in the bay-we could see Surfside-and we fished for another 45 mins. When we arrived at Surfside he didn't want the QR Code "didn't know how to do that" he wanted $1650 paid directly to him. I tried to explain we had already paid a deposit and service fee. Finally, after going around with him about a direct payment to him and "not using a QR code" he saw I wasn't going to budge - we were using the QR Code as the instructions from Captain Experiences told us too! Then he proceeded to tell me "I had to pay his wife" for all her work - that's separate, she gets cash." I guess she was what he called a "deck hand" because there wasn't anyone else but the captain. I gave her a decent tip and she was all smiles! As for Captain Mike - I will NEVER book another trip with him. He is either really scared of a little rain - or he is just plain lazy! This was my son-in-law's first offshore trip and should have been 8 hours but was more like 5 hours! My son-in-law only caught two fish - both snappers. Other boat captains offered to take my party of 4 for $1500 and were pulling out one after another while we sat there waiting for our Captain Mike to show up (in hindsight, we should have took the loss and gone on one of the other boats). Captain Mike finally showed up at 9:30-9:40 am... We left Surfside close to 10am… NEVER AGAIN!

Response from Captain Experiences:
Hey Roy - Thanks for this helpful feedback. We are actively working with our guides to make sure that they have a comprehensive understanding of Captain Experience's QR payment process. The goal is to make it seamless for both you and the guide, and I'm sorry that this was not the case. It also seems like the Captain was not clear that he was bringing a deckhand along, which also caused some confusion. We've extended...
