About Your Trip

Join Captain Kyle for a flats fishing adventure along the coastal waters of eastern North Carolina, where shallow grass beds, sandy shorelines, and quiet estuaries come together to create prime habitat for redfish. This trip is all about sight fishing and exploring the flats in search of one of the most exciting inshore species in the region.

The primary target is redfish, which can range in size from smaller under-slot fish all the way up
to powerful bulls exceeding slot limits and approaching 50 inches. These fish are often found cruising shallow water, pushing wakes across the flats, or tailing in skinny water while feeding. When conditions line up, anglers may have the opportunity to visually spot fish and present a fly or lure directly in their path, creating an unforgettable strike right in plain view.

Seeing a redfish commit to a fly or artificial lure in shallow water is one of the highlights of this style of fishing. The combination of clear water, quiet approaches, and precise presentations makes every encounter feel personal and highly engaging. It is a technical but rewarding experience that emphasizes observation, timing, and accuracy.

Captain Kyle keeps the trip comfortable and prepared for changing coastal conditions. A cooler with water bottles is provided on board, and guests are encouraged to bring any additional snacks or beverages they would like for the day. Because weather on the flats can shift quickly, it is also recommended to bring a light jacket in case of passing rain showers or cooler wind conditions.

This is a hands-on, visual fishing experience focused on the excitement of spotting and casting to redfish in their natural shallow-water environment. Whether you are fly fishing or using light tackle, the goal is to deliver an authentic and memorable day on the flats with Captain Kyle in eastern North Carolina.

We had a great time despite less than ideal conditions. Kyle did an excellent job running down every possibility to find fish. We eventually caught some nice trout. All in all we learned a lot, Kyle is very knowledgeable and we enjoyed his company. We plan to take another trip with Kyle.
