Captain Shawn is a Panama City local who’s spent his life fishing these waters. He loves sharing his knowledge and helping anglers of all ages and skill levels experience the thrill of fishing. Whether it’s a first-time catch or a seasoned angler landing a personal best, he makes sure everyone feels welcome and has a blast.

On this trip, you’ll be bottom fishing over reefs and structure for a variety of prized species. Expect plenty of action with Red Snapper, Mangrove Snapper, Lane Snapper, and Vermillion Snapper, all known for their tasty fillets. You’ll also have a shot at hard-fighting Gag and Red Grouper, plus Triggerfish and Almaco Jack to keep things exciting. With more time on the water than a half-day trip, you’ll have a better chance to fill the cooler and enjoy steady action.

You’ll be fishing aboard a classic 54’ Neptune sportfisher powered by twin Caterpillar engines. With space for up to 15 people, it’s the perfect boat for large families, reunions, or friend groups. Inside, you’ll find cold air conditioning, a kitchen with a microwave, a restroom, and plenty of room to relax between bites. On deck, there’s a live well for bait, a large fish box for your catch, and a drink cooler to keep your refreshments cold.

Captain Shawn provides all rods, reels, tackle, and bait. Live bait is available for an additional fee if you want to up your chances with the big ones. Once back at the dock, he can also clean your catch for an additional fee, so you can head straight to the grill or a local restaurant to enjoy your fresh catch.

This trip is great for beginners and experienced anglers alike, and Captain Shawn loves making it a family-friendly experience—especially for kids. The boat is also disability-friendly, ensuring everyone can enjoy a day on the water.

Everything Else to Know

On The Capt. Ellis we provide tackle and fishing licenses as well as ice, all you need to bring is anything you would like to eat or drink as well as a tip for the mate. Typically 15-25% is customary.
You're all set! You don't need to buy a license for this trip.
We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).
Cancel for free up to 14 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 14 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.
In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.
