About Your Trip

If you’re an experienced angler or part of a group that’s ready for a serious fishing adventure, Captain Jonathan’s 12-hour extended day trip is perfect for you! This trip is all about maximizing your time on the water, targeting some of the Gulf’s most prized species while exploring the best reefs and wrecks around Destin and Shalimar. With a full day of bottom fishing, trolling, and jigging, you’ll be in for non-stop action, chasing both deep-dwelling giants and high-speed pelagics.

During this trip, you’ll get hands-on with a variety of techniques. You’ll learn how to run outriggers and manage multiple trolling lines with a mix of lures, as well as the finer points of live baiting and bottom fishing with cut bait for heavy hitters like Grouper and Snapper. Captain Jonathan and his expert crew will guide you through it all, ensuring you’re set up for success whether you’re dropping lines to the depths or trolling the surface for fast-moving predators.

The target species on this extended trip are the kind that will make your arms sore and your adrenaline pump. When trolling, you’ll be after the lightning-fast Wahoo, the hard-fighting Blackfin Tuna, and the colorful, acrobatic Mahi Mahi. These pelagic species are known for blistering runs and dramatic surface strikes, giving you the thrill of a lifetime. Meanwhile, the bottom fishing grounds will have you hooking into Red Snapper, Lane Snapper, and the coveted Black and Gag Grouper, along with Scamp Grouper and Triggerfish. These reef dwellers are notorious for their powerful pulls and determination to stay deep, so get ready for a fight!

With Captain Jonathan at the helm, you’ll be fishing aboard a fully equipped boat featuring top-of-the-line rods, reels, live bait, lures, and all the tackle you need for a successful day on the water. His boat is designed for serious fishing, making it the ideal choice for those who want to get the most out of their time on the water. Whether you’re trolling or dropping bait for Grouper and Snapper, Captain Jonathan’s years of local experience will put you on the fish and help you master the techniques required for a productive trip.

This trip is the perfect option for groups of experienced anglers or those looking for an intense, no-holds-barred fishing experience. You’ll spend the full day out on the water, so pack plenty of snacks, drinks, and sunscreen to keep you fueled and comfortable. While some refreshments are usually provided, bringing extra food and beverages is recommended to stay energized for the long haul.

And don’t worry about the paperwork—Captain Jonathan handles all the necessary fishing licenses and permits, so you can focus on the thrill of the catch. From trolling for Wahoo to jigging for Grouper, this 12-hour adventure will give you the opportunity to reel in trophy fish and test your skills across a variety of fishing techniques.

If you’re ready for a full day of intense fishing, targeting the Gulf’s most exciting species, this extended 12-hour trip with Captain Jonathan is exactly what you’ve been looking for. Captain Jonathan is a top-rated fishing charter captain from Shalimar, FL. Prior to launching his fishing business he served honorably in the United States Army. Captain Jonathan served in the Army for fifteen years and was medically discharged after receiving a purple heart in Afghanistan. When he came back to the states all he could think about was launching a fishing business of his own.

Captain Jon was raised by a fishing family. His grandfather was a highly regarded deep
sea fishing charter captain in the Destin, Florida area. When John returned home after serving in the Army he came across a book passed down by his grandfather. In that book was a list of GPS coordinates marking his grandfather's favorite Deep Sea fishing spots off of Destin and Fort Walton Beach. Jon fished those secret spots handed down from his grandfather and further developed his deep sea fishing skills and ultimately launched a successful fishing charter business of his own near Destin FL.

To this day, Captain Jon loves fishing the same spots his grandfather did and seeing the excitement on the faces of his guests as they hook into fish like Mahi Mahi and Red Snapper. His enthusiasm for fishing is what sets him apart from others in the area. He has dedicated his life to helping others fulfill their dreams of catching the big one. Even if it is your first time holding a rod, his high level of knowledge and experience will help you connect with some seriously huge fish! He uses different fishing techniques such as Trolling, Light Tackle, Deep Sea Fishing, Jigging, and a lot more.

He has a 34' Tiara sportfishing boat which he uses to fish. This vessel is your perfect boat to go offshore. It will allow you to reach all of the best secret fishing spots near Destin and Fort Walton Beach quickly and comfortable. Captain Jon can take up to six guests on board on every trip.

Have the time of your life Deep Sea fishing with captain Jon in Destin and Fort Walton Beach!

Capt John was absolutely amazing and we will be contacting him again when we come back for another great adventure. The weather was cold, windy, rough and going in was never suggested. He did anything and everything he could to make this trip a success and man did he deliver. Thank you Capt John for an unforgetable day on the water. Can't wait for round two!!
