About Your Trip

For my A.M. trips most will start early morning and end late morning or early afternoon. For afternoon trips most will start early afternoon and end as the sun is setting. If it’s a longer trip depending on the time of year we may start late morning. In general I recommend your trip be planned around tides. Moving tides are very important for fishing the marsh. That’s usually going to be at those times but some days the most productive fishing will occur during the middle of the day. I will call with all that information once you’ve booked.

All of the fishing we’ll be doing is within 10 miles of the ramp. Most within 2 or 4 miles. With a boat that has a cruising speed of 40 mph we’ll be fishing within minutes of leaving the dock!

The boat is 19’ Fishmaster, Kenner make, powered with a Mercury 2 stroke. This boat is designed for shallow water running and to have room to make long casts. So there is no bathroom or shade so hats, sunglasses, and sun protection is recommended. If you’re uncomfortable with using the restroom off the back of the boat. There is a restroom located at the marina and there are plenty of restrooms located on the water within a short running distance of where we’ll be fishing. We can put a pause on the time no problem if that’s needed.

This is a full service trip all bait, gear, licensing, and fish cleaning/bagging is provided. Some people insist on bringing their own gear, I do not recommend that. In my career dozens of people have and their gear is not up to the task and it costs them fish and causes the angler frustration. Keep your rods at home. I have nice gear and I personally use the rods I hand you! I keep the boat stocked with water you’re welcome to help yourself to. But any other drinks/snacks you want for your trips including beer feel free to bring in a small cooler. You will also need to bring a cooler to transport fish home you may want to keep.

live bait and artificial lures are my specialty. Most guides in the area fish hook line and sinker which there is nothing wrong with. That’s just not me! What I do is very interactive fishing. If we’re fishing live baits under a popping cork, your cork needs to casted next to the grass line or structure we’re fishing and kept there. There is also a unique hook set technique when a fish strikes your bait. With artificial lures good cast are also important as well as how each lure is worked with a good hook set when your lure gets thumped. But don’t worry I will be right there coaching and helping to make sure you get the hang of it. It’s one of my favorite things to see when someone figures it out and starts bringing them in one right after the other!

Redfish (red drum) will be the star of the show when you fish with me. They’re hard fighting, beautiful fish, that will willingly eat live baits, lures, and flys. They are also exceptionally tasty! Speckled trout, flounder, black drum, sheepshead, large mouth bass, and hybrid striped bass are also common fish to catch using the same techniques.

Hey I’m Captain Colin! I’ve been obsessed with fishing from the moment I first picked up a fishing rod. I first started fishing in the coastal marshes of Louisiana before my family moved to the banks of escambia bay in Pensacola Florida. Where I applied the techniques and styles I learned in Louisiana and really dialed in on the fish.

Fishing the shallow marshes and surrounding flats of coastal estuaries is my specialty and to this day my favorite way to fish! Targeting redfish (red drum,) speckled trout, flounder, and several other species using artificial lures and floating live baits is my bread and butter. If you have any preference to fishing live baits or lures just let me know and we’ll get it done! When conditions are right, even sight fishing with spinning and fly gear is on the table.

There are plenty of incredible and exciting fishing opportunities to experience in the salt marsh. Like catching fish up to 60lbs in only a couple feet of water. I would love the opportunity to be your guide and take you to where they live! I’ll see y’all out there!

All gear is included, but we also recommend bringing sunglasses, sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, and anything else you might want on the trip.

We use a cashless autopay system. We'll send you a boarding pass, and on the day of the trip, your guide will scan your boarding pass to automatically transfer the remaining balance. The only cash needed is to tip your guide (we recommend 20%).

Cancel for free up to 14 days before the trip and receive credit back to your account. Cancelling within 14 of the trip will forfeit your deposit to the guide. Day-of cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full balance of the trip to their card.

In the event of inclement weather you'll be covered by out 100% Weather Guarantee and will not lose your deposit.
