trip description for Sportsman’s Paradise Trip in Saint Bernard

If you're planning on fishing in Southeast Louisiana and are looking for a top-notch fishing charter, come fish with the best! Whether you're just visiting the New Orleans area and looking for an enjoyable family outing, or a dedicated angler hoping to bag a trophy, Captain Mike has got you covered. On the day of your trip, you will be fishing out of Captain Mike's fish out of a 26' Caymas hybrid bay boat powered by a 300 Mercury. This shallow-draft fishing vessel is ideal for inshore angling, and you'll be able to maneuver around the marshes, channels, and flats with ease. Throughout spring, summer, and fall Captain Mike likes to target Redfish, Speckled Trout, Black Drum, Tripletail, Sheepshead, and Flounder. During certain seasonal months, he also goes after Snapper and Cobia! Starting in early spring he switches his focus to the southern edge of Delacroix, north hitting deeper marshes and channels and targeting Redfish, Speckled Trout, Black Drum, and Sheepshead. As the waters warm up, he will move further out, chasing the bait from Delacroix to Hopedale to Shell Beach. This allows him and his clients to get on some great Speckled Trout and Redfish bites! As water temperatures rise in the springtime, the action takes him to cleaner waters in search of large schools of Speckled Trout, plus tons of Flounder. Once water temperatures reach a certain level, he likes to go further out to the outer marshes and surrounding areas. This is where he goes to target Bull Reds, Speckled Trout and Tripletail! When you book a trip, you can be confident that Captain Mike will do the utmost to put you on some of the best fishing of your life! Southeast Louisiana isn't called the "Sportman's Paradise" for nothing, and the fishing here is truly legendary. Get out there and have the time of your life with Captain Mike! Read More

Fishing in Hopedale
trip description for Louisiana Salt Marsh Fly Trip in Hopedale

Captain Jeff is here to offer guided fly fishing and light tackle spinning rod trips in the saltwater marshes south of New Orleans, making him one of the premiere Louisiana Redfish charters. Since he is located in the city, he can fish on either the east or west side of the Mississippi River depending on the time of year and conditions, with Port Sulphur and Venice on the west side and Hopedale and Delacroix on the east. The early fall when the big fish come back into the marsh from offshore is prime time but the fishing is spectacular all year round. The primary target on these trips is to catch and release giant redfish but black drum, sheepshead, jack crevalle, speckled trout and even giant alligator gar populate the same waters. Trips usually start around 8:00am and go till around 4:00 because the sun needs to be up to be able to see the fish. In the hotter months trips start earlier so you aren’t out there in the hottest part of the day. His boat is a seventeen-foot Maverick Mirage II with a 90-horsepower Etec strapped to the back. It has a custom front-casting platform with a rail for added stability. This flats skiff is ideal for fishing the marshes and bayous that surround New Orleans. All gear is provided. Captain Jeff ties his own spoon flies and has a ton of tasty-looking crab and shrimp patterns under development. Not to mention plenty of Clouser minnows and poppers queued up as well. He always keeps a 10 or 12-weight fly rod rigged and ready in case you see a big Jack feeding. If you want to bring your own gear that’s also fine. For the spinning enthusiast, Captain Jeff likes to use small suspending crankbaits with inline hooks, gold spoons, and topwater baits whenever possible. Read More

trip description for Shrimp Trawling Adventure in Grand Isle

Hop on board with Captain Daryl for an exciting day of traditional shrimp trawlin' in the heart of Cajun country! The Louisiana coast is full-up with shrimp, and Grand Isle is right in the middle of all the inshore marshes, swamps and bays you need to catch some tasty keepers. On this 3-hour trip, you’ll participate in a quickly eroding practice of small boat shrimping the way that thousands of folks have provided food for their tables in past generations. This is a “hands on” experience trip where one should plan on getting a little wet and sometimes a lot dirty. You’ll participate in pulling a bottom trawl then exploring it’s catch as you pick out the shrimp that you want to keep. Captain Daryl will provide all the necessary trawling equipment. All you need to bring is any food or drinks you might want out on the water. We recommend a hat, sunscreen and polarized sunglasses, clothes that can get dirty, and remember to pack a cooler in your car so you can take your hard-trawled catch home with you! Note: Shrimp are highly regulated by the State. Shrimp seasons are often opened and closed with a 72 hour notice. In the event that a regulatory closure you will not be charged any fees by RSGS for any trip(s) that the closure would affect. Read More

trip description for Following the Trout and Reds in Golden Meadow

Head out with Captain Lance to explore the Sportsman's Paradise down in South Louisiana. On this trip you'll be using light tackle rigs, artificial bait, or live bait if you'd like to purchase some to chase speckled trout and redfish. The ecosystem down on Louisiana's gulf coast make it a very interesting fishery. It is absolutely beautiful with mazes of marshland, flooded backcountry waters, and wildlife abounding, but there is so much good habitat that the fish can move just about anywhere. And they do move around a lot. That's where a great Captain like Lance is extremely helpful. With an in-depth knowledge of the surrounding water and fish habits, he keeps close tabs on where those fish are moving and where the most successful locations will be for each trip. As a result, Captain Lance is very flexible on where you will be launching from, since he is always moving around as well to follow the fish. In the days leading up to your trip, he will reach out to you to discuss where your group will be coming from and where the best launch location will be based on your position and where the fish are most localized! Once you've agreed upon a meet-up location and the day of your trip arrives, you will find Captain Lance at the boat ramp to load up aboard his 24' Pathfinder bay boat and head out into the marsh! Captain Lance provides fuel, fishing tackle, ice, live bait, and will even clean and bag all the fish you catch for your travel home. Water, cold drinks, and food are not automatically provided but Captain Lance can bring them along at your request for a small additional fee. He does ask that you leave your crocs, flip-flops, and sandals at home. Please where nonscuffing sneakers. Had a great day with Seth despite the weather. I was only in town for 1 day and could not reschedule so we decided to go out and make the best of it. We caught a nice 22" redfish on first cast and after a few hours work we had another 22" and a fat 27" redfish in the boat. Seth stayed positive the whole day as we tried different spots and techniques. Will definitely fish with him again, hopefully in better weather.
