The Madison has dropped substantially in the last few days after a major rain event. The nymph bite has been solid with stone fly nymphs, San Juan worms. If you get a cloudy day strip streamers. There are BWOs and fish are looking up.

My guide, Eli, was a great teacher and had really good patience with me as prior to the trip I had experience flying fishing but not a whole lot. He showed me some better and more efficient ways such as casting and what to look for that could indicate a fish or an area where they could be found. I have no doubt that we would have caught more if the fish were biting that day. Speaking to others who were fly fishing on the river that day they weren’t having any luck, but Eli was able to find the fish and figure out what they were biting on. I had a great experience on the river and would absolutely hire Eli as my guide again.
