Winter time is coming here and it will not be long. They have taken the stop logs out to drop the river down. That's good news because it will not be long before the big girls will be moving up river to spawn. I do love big fish. Now gang you have to think small when it comes to flies. It's the only thing moving in the river this time of year is small flies. We have been picking them up on size 20 zebra midge and size 18 soft hackle flies.

Water temps running 58-60 degrees. Spawning has started somewhat with a couple of female fish with eggs. Trout keying on small sulfur emergers, midges which are in abundance, blue wing olives and caddis. Dry fly action at times. Best Flies Rubber Leg jiggy buggers and midge emergers.

Temperatures are warmer than normal so trout are still somewhat in Summer mode. Majority of hatch are midges and sulfur. Some blue wing olive and caddis. Nymphing works best on short aggressive strips. Midge and sulfur dry flies dominate when fish are rising to feed.

Cooler night temperatures mean insect hatches are more active especially early mornings. Blue wing olive nymphs and emergers are working very well by themselves in slower water, dropped under a weighted woolybugger in fast water. Midges are still active early. Some afternoons are fishing well but not yet enough activity...

Cooler night temperatures mean insect hatches are more active especially early mornings. Blue wing olive nymphs and emergers are working very well by themselves in slower water, dropped under a weighted woolybugger in fast water. Midges are still active early. Some afternoons are fishing well but not yet enough activity to warrant any afternoon or full day trips just yet. Bite is still somewhat soft so hook set on the slightest twitch is very important

Fly fishing is great early morning only during hot/warm weather. Midge and caddis dominate early morning hatches. Strikes are delicate so don't hesitate to set the hook.

Fishing has been great lately. Small midges have been king along with a green Caddis. Larger fish should be making their way up river this month so get ready y'all!!!

Fishing has been excellent lately. Lots of fish caught with a few nice size ones as well. Damsel nymphs, Caddis, midges, hairs ear nymphs, pheasant tail nymphs and more are all working well. Elk hair Caddis and small adams have also been working well later in the morning.
