Fishing onboard the 36’ Yellowfin in the last couple of weeks has been very good in the Florida Keys, between Key Largo & Marathon. The predominant bite offshore has been swordfish & blackfin tunas. The swordfish have been holding well off the ledges & the blackfins are super thick on the humps. We are catching our limits on blackfin tuna just about every trip & a few mahi-mahi in the mix as an extra treat.
On the reefs & wrecks, the Yellowtail snapper / mutton bite has still been consistent on the reefs between 45- 90 feet of water and on the deeper water wrecks in 100 plus feet. Captain’s tip for deep water snapper fishing: Fishing the deeper water you gotta lock down your drag, wind hard & fast as possible, admire your fish when he’s on the boat, lol. This technique is to outrun the tax man aka Mr. Shark, who is surely lurking & seems to want your prized flag yellowtails or muttons a little bit more than we do.
The wahoo & first of the fall sailfish should start showing up in the next few weeks as more cold fronts approach our area. We are looking forward to live bait fishing and flying the kites for the spectacular top water aerial attack on the baits.
As always, If you’re looking to get out on the water for a great time fishing or just need information / tips, please feel free to book or contact me or any of our great charter captains located here in the Florida Keys.

Our peacocks are still on fire, just got to know where to find them this time of year. Catching 30-40 per 4 hour trip on live bait. We had a guy from Tennessee on Sunday that got 37 peacocks and had the trip of his lifetime!

We had a wonderful fishing trip with Bryan. He was very knowledgeable and helped us immensely since we had little to no experience offshore fishing. We could feel that he cared about us catching a fish and that he was trying to fulfill. In the end, we caught 3 fish - 2 rainbow runners and 1 mutton snapper and lost 3 fish. We are super happy.

We had such a great time on this charter! Captain Nelson and his mate Jordan delivered an A+ experience. We are on a business trip and we did this as a team building exercise. All of us caught fish and enjoyed the time! Would highly recommend!

We had an amazing time with Captain Nelson durting our five hour deep sea fishing trip in September of 2025. The boat is large and steady in the open water which helped us landcrabs to keep our breakfast within. I certainly recommend Captain Nelson and will use his services again, for a longer trip, in the spring.

We had a nice time with Taylor. Wish we could have caught more fish. We got one conus that we had to release. My husband is a very experienced fisherman and I believe if we would have gone to deeper waters it would of been more of a success, but still a good rime
