Fishing has been on fire as the weather gets cooler and lighter winds come around. The shrimp are thick inshore, allowing drum and trout easy meals. Nearshore, there are acres of Spanish Mackerel, albacore, and bluefish are busting glass minnows. Dropping on deep water ledges has been providing nice flounder bites as well

Nearshore Spanish, bluefish and kings and amberjack have been consistent.
Backwater bite has been fire! Bait all over skinny water reds blowing shrimp outta the water from slot size all the way up to Trophy size (40+") they have been steadily eating topwater and flies, popping corks have been producing well. Speckled Trout have still been crushing corks and topwater, mostly morning and evening. Good numbers of Sheepshead and black drum.

Fishing has been really good here lately with the calmer winds and cleaner water. Nearshore casting at Spanish Mackerel has been steady with a mix of albacore for a fun fighting surprise. Inshore with the right tides, you can find scattered speckled trout and solid redfish, and starting Sept 1 we can finally keep the elusive flounder. Shrimp are all over the backwaters, cast netting enough for dinner to add to the plate!

One good thing about this wind, it has heated things up! Literally and figuratively. The backwater bite has been solid! Topwater action and shallow fished weedless plastics and spoons have been producing. Loads of bait in the backbays, Trout in my immediate area are still hard to find. However the action is fire up the Neuse nearby. Topwater Trout, slot drum and a solid showing of trophy size Reds are being produced on topwater. I'll be transitioning to that area as I begin to run my Trophy Redfish charters in August

Fishing has been good when the bite turns on in Morehead city. we've been dealing with extremely high winds and dirty water, 2 straight weeks of downpours and SW winds 15-25kts have made it tough, but using cut bait under corks, on protected banks, oyster rocks, and drop offs has produced solid bites!

I’m an experienced fisherman who wanted to become better at targeting red drum and trout. Joe not only put me in fish, but taught me things about fishing that area that will help me catch fish on my own for years to come. Highly recommend!
We had an awesome time with capt. Joe. He worked extremely hard to put us on the fish. Water conditions weren't to our favor, But we will be back next year. Can't wait to fish with our new found friend again. And have another great day on the water. ☆☆☆☆☆
