Bull reds are starting to group up and making their way through passages. Look for moving water and bait. Trout have slacked alittle but good quality keepers are still in 2 to 3ft of water around grassy potholes. Tight lines!

Trout have been red-hot on the Upper Laguna Madre — but only for early risers. Once the morning heat sets in, the bite shuts down fast, so if trout are the target, get on the water at first light.
As the morning warms, we shift gears to redfish. Once the sun climbs high enough to cut through the water, we start sight-fishing shorelines in about 2 feet of water. Bait activity and diving birds are the giveaway — find them, and the reds usually aren't far behind.
**Bottom line:** Trout early, reds mid-morning. Watch the bait and birds.

We've been finding fish by staying mobile and covering water until we locate active schools. The trout are feeding early, and the drum have been keeping rods bent throughout the day. Live bait and artificials have both been producing depending on conditions.
