The inshore has been heating up lately! As water temperature cools off it seems like the bite has steadily picked up.
Offshore has been consistently good, typically coming home with our limits of triggerfish and vermillion snapper

The red snapper bite has been steady but you have to put up some effort to find the sizes you need for the box. Trigger fish has opened and are plentiful but lots of smalls mixed in which is normal but not so bad. The mahi's are crazy good at the moment and anything you find floating in the water is full of fish including triple tails. The vermilion snapper have come off their full moon spawn and are really biting well , squid or salted northern mackerel will do the trick. Kings are good this year and still going...

Amber jacks are closed so you know will catch them one after the other. There is no blue water very close here in our neck of the woods so the trolling is kind of slow.
Inshore is never great in August because of the heat but Captain Jake is catching some redfish and trout along with flounder and mangrove snapper. The Spanish mackerel are still good as long as the bait is here.

This year has been an incredibly tough fishing year for red snapper. The water temps were what they typically are in August by the 1st of July. The marks are all there on the fishfinder. The fish got smarter, faster this year as their appetites were reduced by the temperature increase. We've also had more issues with sharks and dolphins eating our fish and bait off the hooks. We had to switch gears, work harder and try different methods to outsmart the fish. The deeper water fish were still biting well, but with the increase of fuel prices, going out...

The fish got smarter, faster this year as their appetites were reduced by the temperature increase. We've also had more issues with sharks and dolphins eating our fish and bait off the hooks. We had to switch gears, work harder and try different methods to outsmart the fish. The deeper water fish were still biting well, but with the increase of fuel prices, going out 30 miles on a 6 hour trip was not a sustainable business practice. We finally decided to switch gears and go after vermilion snapper while targeting red snapper on the side. This has given our charters better experiences than before. We're still targeting red snapper until the end of the season but it's not our primary target. That takes the pressure off and makes fishing fun again.

For the last several weeks the red snapper bite has been steady but not as good as it was earlier. We have been catching limits of snapper but you have to work thru smaller fish to get them. The offshore mangrove snapper fishing has been great all year and continues to be good. Cobia have been good as well with plenty of legal fish coming in. When the water is clean Wahoo are being caught closer to shore. Also grouper are still steady but you have to go deep to be consistent.

I don't have a lot to talk up.
The snapper bite has been a tough one this year. Not sure if it's because water temps have been extremely high or the storm activity. However, we are catching some small snapper on the nearshore reefs and picking off a few big ones here and there. The trigger fish have been plentiful and the vermillion and mangrove bite has been pretty steady. There are still plenty of fun fish to catch on the troll, the skipjack, triple tail and a few peanut Mahi are hanging around floating debris if you find any...

The snapper bite has been a little off kilter this season. However, if you put in the work there are still some monsters swimming around out there. The vermillion bite is still very solid. However, if you can get them to the boat before the dolphins snatch them off your line your doing good. The deep troll offshore from the edge outward has really been on fire lately. A lot of great catches being reported of Mahi, Wahoo, and some monster Cobia.

Snapper season is in full swing. There are lots of opportunities for the offshore bite to include mixed bags of Mangroves, vermillion, and of course those reds. Slow trolling live cigars or sardines is starting to produce some awesome king Mackerel catches. We are looking forward to July when those Amberjacks and triggers come back into play

Blake accommodated our location by coming 30 minutes closer to Navarre, great start. We fought some wind but overall had a great afternoon. Blake was very knowledgeable and courteous to my two young boys, which for me ensures he’ll get our business again. The highlight of the day was our rescue of a pelican wrapped up in fishing line, absolutely amazing to see and watch Blake in his element, saving wildlife. A hands on miracle!

My experience with Captain James was phenomenal! If you want a fishing trip that doesn’t feel like a fishing trip, but more like a hang with some friends you haven’t seen for a bit while you’re fishing, this is the one for you. Very helpful for our inexperienced fishers, and still had plenty of knowledge to go around for the experienced ones. Anytime I go charter fishing, I will be exclusively using Captain James!

We just had the best day of our vacation. Captain James was a delight!!! He was super courteous, taking care of any needs we had. He offered up drinks and snacks as well as knowledge and a bit of history on Fort Pickens. WE HAD A BLAST! Thank you Captain James, you are much appreciated and we will see you again the next time around!

Amazing time! After picking us up from being double booked elsewhere, then after a ride that was cancelled due to mechanical issues, and having to work around weather and conference schedules... he & his deckhand, Vic, made up for the chaos! Energetic, good music, good convo on downtime. Safe ride out, took us where we were sure to catch something after all the crazy and we did!!! Bait was always on the hook, great instruction & kind with pointers! Got us back safely and timed it perfect with the rain! HIGHLY recommend!
