December fishing in Tampa Bay presents plenty of opportunities for catching fish. As the water cools and then warms back up again between cold fronts, it can make the fish fairly predictable in their movements.

With a consistently cooler water temperature algae dies and the water clears, making this is one of our favorite times of year to fish as it makes for some great site fishing opportunities, as the fish will get into the shallows to soak up some of that Florida sunshine. On the lower stages of the tide, redfish and trout have been hanging out in the
potholes. On the flats, the kinship between rays and fish is on display this time of year. As the tide rises. The parade of rays and sharks is on, with the cruising southern stingrays, spotted eagle rays, and occasionally bull sharks. I’ve also had cobia, pompano, and jacks cruising with them. When that water that’s been heated up in the shallows, it starts to flow into the rivers and canals and it’s time to hit it up for snook, redfish and trout along the sea walls, and mangrove shorelines!

The weather temps dipped and found lots of bug mackerel and sharks off the beach. There’s Tripletail by the crab bouys but mostly shorts. Hoping the Kings will show up soon and hope to get one tomorrow. The reefs are holding Gags and Cobia.

Redfish bite is heating up with schools of fish roaming the flats as they move up the bay. Snook trout and pompano are also found plentiful on the flats. Mangrove snapper and grouper are biting well on the channel ledges and artificial reefs

Fishing in hot summer waters can sometimes be tough, but with the right tides, depths and bait, some fish are still biting!
Mangrove Snapper, Spanish Mackerel and the Sharks are on fire right now. Fish are going in the cooler and clients are leaving the docks with bags of meat.
With cooler waters just around the corner Redfish will start biting hard in Tampa Bay.

Been catching snapper and Key west grunts and taking the smaller ones and going out to the reef and as of late. We’ve been catching monsters snook out on the Reef! All my clients think they need to book a full day trip but we can usually get all the fishing you’d like done in 4 hours with how hot it’s been!

Captain George was all around great! On time, very knowledgeable and attentive with great instructions for each fish type we were chasing. Extremely professional and did an excellent job cleaning the catch so we could make for dinner too. All around great time.

Captain Gorge is top notch. He put us on fish and worked the entire time we were fishing. Everyone had a great time and we caught a variety of species. I will definitely recommend him to anyone wanting to chatter fish. Five star +.

I had an amazing day on the water with Capt. George! I mentioned early on in the trip I had never hooked into a Snook before. George made it his mission to remedy that! He knew exactly how to find our target species. With some professional tips from George I reeled in over a dozen hard fighting Snook! When the bite turned off, he knew right where to look next and we were on them again. There were several boats around, and we were the only ones catching! To wrap up our trip we caught some speckled trout and mangrove snapper to fill the cooler as well! Highly recommend Capt. George!
