Weather has been some windy days and other days completely calm and off the chain for the Wahoo bite. Offshore has been action packed. We are catching Wahoo in 100-230 feet, they love to bite when there is a overcast and minimal seas. We expect them to stick around and keep slaying them; just like last year. As they make the perfect eating as raw, sushi, cooked, or, smoked as fish dip! Last week on a full- day offshore with Team Redbull; Ace of Spades released 4 Sailfish (Captain Maurices favorite). This makes a adventure filled and action packed day of fighting bill fish; pulling up to the dock with 4 sail release flags out! It sure keeps the Captain on his toes! The reef is full of good eating- mutton snappers are biting hot, and, of course the flag yellowtails are cooperating. Reef trips are a rewarding and perfect outing for families and groups who want to stay with their rods bent and consistent action. And ideal for cook your catch at the wonderful local restaurants. As always its a blessing to fish daily in the Florida Keys and put families and friends from all over onto the best bite!

The backcountry basins are still very good with plenty of action and species to capture on artificial lures. Captain Justin has been hiding from the high winds on the leeward side of the island doing some high action bottom fishing. The local wrecks and channels have been producing plenty of great tasting fish including mangrove snapper , yellowtail snapper, mutton snapper ,yellow jacks and a few groupers. Live pilchards and pinfish are still the bait of Choice for the highest odds of productivity. The forecast for the next few days looks promising with calm winds and 75 degree temperatures. Looking forward on what’s to come on this weeks fishing charters.

This was honestly one of the most disappointing charters I’ve had. I’ve booked numerous charters all over and in the keys. I realize fishing is fishing but we were greeted by a captain other than Dan, great guy but not what I expected honestly. Our vessel wasn’t prepared and ready to go so we waited longer than was expected and it pushed other plans back even further. We caught one 12.5 inch yellow that was big enough to keep. On other charters the boat is quite well prepared and ready to change course quickly to get you on the fish, not the case, granted it was a shorter booking I’ve still had much better equipped captains and vessels. So to spend the day bobbing for non existent apples was not at all ideal. It was so boring my wife and son chose to nap. So just be aware that if you choose this charter it may not go at all to plan. Sadly it was a waste of precious vacation time. I typically hate reading negative reviews and have never personally left one, but this seemed appropriate given the outcome. Good luck.

I would highly recommend fishing with George. He is super knowledgeable about the area fishing and he kept me busy catching fish. George is also just a cool dude who was fun to be around during and after fishing. His yacht club cooked up our fish after George cleaned them. It was great! We brought 5 fish in and put at least that many back in the water.
