Fishing has been very consistent in the lower Laguna Madre the first two weeks of October with some mild cold fronts pushing through. Speckled trout redfish and Snook or at the top of the list right now along with a few flounder. All coming on top water lures and plastic worms. Live bait has been hard to come by but the fish are here just got to put in some hard work.

Red snapper, black grouper and Cobia have been great on cut bait,live bait, jigging rigs and 6" plastics.
Kingfish are hitting trolling lures. The water temperature continues to stay warm and the blue water is nearer to the shoreline this time of year.

Early morning fishing has been on fire a mix of everything speckled trout, redfish, flounder, and a few snook on artificials. Live shrimp has been scarce when available large numbers of black drum being caught on the icw. Looks like some good fishing the first week of October light North winds predicted should be a great week.

Fall Fishing is in full swing on South Padre Island. Rarely do I say this, but Fishing for all species has been unbelievable save for Tarpon off the beachfront which will likely push further south with the passing of today's cold front. If you have ever thought about making a trip down to this area, now is the time.

Captain Mikes South Padre Fishing Report 9/16/26. The bay fishing has been tougher throughout this past month. Water temperatures and overall weather has been hot! Still catching some solid speckled trout out of deeper water drop offs. Catching some flounder and reds. Most of the fish are hanging in the deepest water they can find. Typically we get rain and some weak northerly winds push through South Texas throughout September. Once temperatures start to drop I would suspect that the redfish will start cruising the grass flats in search of prey. The bite should only get better once the weather...

What a great charter experience. Captain Tony and deck hand Albert were fantastic. They did their best on some rough water to keep us comfortable and on the fish. We got our limit of red snapper and we caught some other species along the way. They were great with my small children. They kept the piles rigged and bait on the hooks. Of all the charters that I’ve taken my family on, this one was by far their favorite. I can’t give a higher recommendation.
