Spring is here and the fish are arriving in force! One of the many fun types of fishing available in the Keys is the evening tuna bite. Though tuna can be found throughout the day, the closest thing to a wide-open frenzy occurs just as the sun goes down. We troll small baits, extra fast and far back. Multiple simultaneous hookups are very common. It’s fast, furious and doesn’t last long, but the great-tasting, hard-fighting blackfin tuna are a blast on light tackle! Most of the captains don’t market evening trips, but can consider adjusting times upon request. Regardless of fish, the famous Key West sunset is always gorgeous! Let us help make your Key West vacation special too!

WOW what a great way to start out the New Year fishing here off the coast of Fort Lauderdale. Trolling the reefs has been a bit slow this January however when we ventured out just a little deeper between 200 and 400 hundred feet of water the black fin tunas have been biting ok in the early hours of the day but seemed as we got into the afternoon hours they were biting real good. Not real sure what happen but the last few years has been producing more and more Wahoo’s also mostly in the same depth as the black fins. I’m pretty sure they are feeding on the black fins. Not just us, but all the boats seem to be bring in more and more Wahoo this being the best year I’ve seen yet. Also while the Mahi mahi are not really in season right now BUT this year they seem to be showing up way before spring and what a welcomed surprise this is always a great crowd pleaser. The bottom fishing has been expectedly good this year as lone as we have a little north current. No current no good too much current no good BUT a knot to a knot and a half good I mean real good. Catching the vermilion snappers reel good along with quite a few red snappers ranging from 8 to 20 pounds another great crowd pleaser. And the best new of all we are catching them in state waters so we get to harvest them. And once again showing up early the Greater Amber Jack SEA DONKEYS, talk about a fight! We had seen many a man give up the rod before landing one of these 30 to 80 pounders. However an unwelcomed catch nice groupers are also biting BUT Sad to say out of season. Some times I think these fish know they get to be set free. LOL

Fishing is always more difficult with the weather in the winter, so if you’re looking for a constant bite we recommend spring but with that being said the tuna bite is really good so to each their own! We fish year round Trolling- plenty of Bonita around, blackfin Tuna are close in right now between 5-15 miles of the pass! Mahi can be found further offshore on weedlines! King mackerel are a hard bite this time of year but can be found near shore Bottom Fishing- Vermillions are in abundance right now and have some decent size to them too, triggerfish are on structure but finding a keeper may be another task! Plenty of perch and Ruby lips running around so if a fish fry is what you’re after then that will be too easy to get! Grouper bite is good right now as well as Almaco Jacks Capt Jon
