We are still having great catches of bass and crappie here on west lake Toho. Wild shiners are still catching the biggest and most numbers, but a senko or a chatterbait can also produce some nice catches

Welcome to Lake Fork Water level is -4.38 and surface temp is lower 50s. This is the best water level we’ve had since early last Winter. We had a pretty severe cold front here last week then some much needed rain. The ground was already saturated so most of it was runoff into the lake. Looking at the extended future forecast it looks fairly mild heading toward Spring. These big females will start heading toward their pre spawn haunts early this year. I like to start fishing the upper Northern part of the lake stating in early Feb. and continuing staying on that end through March. The water will always be a little warmer and that’s where they will start spawning first. Main lake and secondary points at mouths of the larger creeks are idea early staging places. On a little warmer trend move on into the creeks and fish larger wood on the sides of them. Also try spawning flats outside the creeks in the warmer afternoons. A lot of baits will work for these pre spawners. Jigs, suspended jerk baits, chatter baits, spinner baits, cranks and I like a c-rig with a creature bait. With the lake level on the rise this should be a good pre spawn and spawn this year. Good Fishing!

Stephan and Steve from Toronto were duly impressed with the power and outright ferocity of the peacock bass today..one of those trips you don't soon forget!!

Fishing report from Craig K. in Jupiter, Florida Book a trip with Craig here.

Last week brought very windy conditions for our local waters, cool front passed through bringing 40 knot winds and showers. Targeting snook was mainly done around leeward points and cuts due to the winds. Smal fish were caught near docks and drops offs. Live baits and DOA Curl tails bait of choice. Gusty winds made it fun for fly anglers, but that’s when night fishing comes into play. Dock lights and bridges areas to locate snook, tarpon and many other species. Small deciever flies and live baits get the bite. Channels and drop offs offer a plethora of species for anglers to target using shrimp and small buck tail jigs. Snapper, drum, jacks, mackerel, and my other species put a bend in the rod. Well that is the fishing reply for the past week, hope you all enjoyed. Remember you can’t catch them from the couch so get out there and get hooked up. Tight Lines!

It's spawn time in Okeechobee, waters high, Okeechobee is fishing small though. The fish are ganged up in certain areas. Good thing is, it's a really picturesque place to fish! Crappie are biting as well... some good ones too, slabs!! The senko bite and chatterbait bites getting hotter by the day for largemouth on okeechobee!! Local canals are doing well, even after the cold snap that caused a fish kill for cichlid species. Bass, peacock bass, and clown knifefish are all biting really well on both live bait and artificials."

Catching a lot of numbers as the water warms up. The Big girls will be going on the beds here in a bit with that moon phase here on Lake Okeechobee. Still getting some decent numbers of peacocks- just need yourself a guide to show you where they're at! And the bite at Lake Okeechobee is starting to pick up. It's going to bust loose any day now!
