The weather, wind direction, and high pressure have made trout fishing a little slow. The good news is that the temperature drop has kicked off the fall flounder migration and the bull redfish run. Should be on the same pattern for the month of October! Great time of the year to fish.

After The Big Rains!!!! Inshore bite was bad just for a couple of days after the end of August monsoonal rains.... Had a few catches of blue cats and bass down the bay.... The bite and the salt water bounced back very quick tho and it’s been strong since..actually we’ve had no rain since that last week of August!!! The water is nice and salty now!! Sheepsheads showed up a lil early when the salt water came back. Some biggins too!!!! A large nice variety of fish-flounder, speckle trout, black and red drum etc...Still a lot of different fish in the bays. Out on the 4 hour fishing trips we offer its a catch a minute!! Fast action for sure!

Great week. September fishing is notorious for being challenging. During the peak of summer the water temperature is at its hottest, lately I have been seeing water temps around 84. Boat traffic is at an all time high, especially on weekends which can also be detrimental to the bite. Hot water & boat traffic are not appealing to trout, they would prefer cooler temps. Due to this then move out deep seeking cooler water. While this may all sound like doom and gloom, fear not! Redfish, Black Drum, Sheephead, Flounder, & Catfish... They still have to eat!

Catching continues to be good on West Galveston Bay. Have seen several trout up to 6 lbs. Redfish have been dominating our box. Live shrimp seems to be producing better than croaker as of late. Milder temps have set in, making for a more enjoyable trip. Light winds have brought clear water to the surf.

Summer is slowly coming to an end here in Sarasota, Florida and we are excited to be seeing signs of Fall. Our Trout Fishing has been fantastic in Sarasota Bay along our deeper grass flats with tons of action from other by catch, Jacks, Lady Fish, Mangrove Snapper and Triple Tail. We have also started to find schools of Redfish along our shallower grass flats and mangrove islands. The Snook fishing in Sarasota seems to always be good as our customers have enjoyed catching Snook in both our passes ( New Pass, Big Pass) and along our mangrove islands and oysters bars on the higher tides.

On the nearshore reefs there’s been a good push of larger flounder with most ranging from 18”-25”. The flounder have been biting mullet, pogies, and baby croakers in the 3-7”range using a Carolina rig 1oz -3oz depending on the tide. Best bites have been around the barges and APCs. If you get a pretty day there’s been a good push of grouper as shallow as 50-60ft on the ledges. The best baits have been pin fish and live pogies. Around the jetties there has been some trout redfish flounder and Spanish . Most of the trout have been caught on live shrimp floating down along the rocks anywhere from 5 to 10 foot down. You can catch some of the redfish using the slip corks with live shrimp or Just off the rocks on the outside and around the channel there’s been some bigger (over slot)redfish you can use cut bait (blue fish, pogies, mullet) or live pogies on a Carolina rig (2-3oz weight with 12”-16” 40lb fluorocarbon leader with a 8/0 circle hook. These bigger reds aren’t the main bull run which should start very soon but are more of our local fish pushing to the jetties with all the bait in the ocean. While fishing for these reds there is a good amount of flounder have been tight to the rocks and hanging around any bottom structure don’t be surprised if you catch them in the channel too. If you just fishing for flounder the outside of the jetties when the water is cleanest with a 1/4 ounce jig head with a finger mullet has been the best. If you start seeing an area with Spanish jumping and chasing mullet try anchoring in that area and start throwing live mullet around the boat on

Redfish madness The last few weeks on the water have been absolutely incredible. If I had to take a guess on how many red fish we caught in the last weeks I would say 250 to 300. Most of the fish we've caught have been in 3 foot or less of water on a popping cork and shrimp. A lot of the recent trips I've ran have had non-stop action from the first cast to the last one. If you want to come get in on some of this action book a trip and let's go make some memories!

The bull redfish are in! The mullet run is in full swing and the bite has been pretty hot from the flats to the beach. We are targeting bull redfish on the flats with light tackle in some areas and there is a consistent bull red bite in the inter coastal and around the jetties. Some snook are in the mix and a good number of tarpon are crashing amongst the schools of mullet. Back in the flats schools of small 5-10 pound black drum are present and they should be consistent throughout the fall.
