You'll be fishing aboard Captain Mike's custom built 22ft Pathfinder boat that can fit families and larger groups of up to 5. Powered by a 150 HP Mercury four stroke engine, this vessel is perfect for Everglades and Florida bay fishing. She also comes equipped with a Minn-Kota electric motor, two 10 ft. power poles and Hummingbird electronics

After you've had a chance to admire the giant Silver King around the dock, you and Captain Mike will discuss a game plan for the day. Whether you want to try for the inshore grand slam (Tarpon, Bonefish, Permit, and Snook), or if you want to fish for dinner (Mutton Snapper, Mangrove Snapper, Redfish, Speckled Trout, Triple Tail, etc), Capt. Mike does it all and is willing to accommodate any technique you wish to use. He comes prepared and will provide you with all the rods, tackle, live bait, or artificial lures you will need for a successful day out on the water.

If you decide to chase the sport fish, Capt. Mike will use his knowledge of the tides and weather to take you to the best Tarpon, Bonefish, or Permit flats in the area. On these beautiful clear water flats Capt. Mike will use his wireless trolling motor to stealthily sneak you across the flat to sight fishing for these fish.

For the other denizens, Capt. Mike will put his 30+ years of experience to work taking you to all the secret channels, mangroves, and honey holes to help you catch your limits on these more delicious fish.

So, no matter which technique you choose to apply (and combinations of these techniques and target species are possible as well), all you need to bring is your food and drink of choice, sunglasses, and a hat, and Captain Mike will take care of the rest for your Florida Keys fishing adventure!

In his early teens and early 20s Mike started to get into firearms and sport shooting. Mike would hunt for anything that gave him a challenge and also became an avid archer for hunting and tournaments. He became a State Champion many times over and won The National Title at the age of 23.

Mike’s career choice was an electrician but at the age of 26 he had a terrible accident. He fell through a roof that was up 30 feet and broke his neck. His break was the same kind as Christopher Reeve’s (Superman). After a lot of luck and rehab Mike realized that the time he had left in this big beautiful world was now on borrowed time, and he wanted to live his life to the fullest each and every day forward.

Mike was still limited in the things he could do, but his love for the water drove Mike to change his career path. He learned to scuba dive and soon became a dive instructor. With his knowledge for fishing, diving and love for the water, he moved to Islamorada “The Sport fishing Capitol of the World”, in the Florida Keys. He ran a dive shop and soon after bought an offshore boat and started a Fishing Charter business. Mike realized he really enjoys sharing his knowledge and passion of fishing with others and loves meeting new and exciting friends. Besides, it’s not so bad to have your office under the big blue sky and nothing but water all around you!

Sailfish became Mike's fish of choice. He started competing in every tournament in town where top-3 finishes became routine. After a year Captain Mike decided it was time to try backcountry and flats fishing, so he sold his off shore boat and became a full time backcountry fishing guide. He went on to win many backcountry tournaments and is still backcountry fishing today!

Captain Mike has had the opportunity to be a fishing guide for a past president, sports figures, actors, senators and some very interesting fishermen. Mike loves sharing his interesting stories about events, people, and some pretty unique situations he has come to find himself in. This is what led Mike to The American Outdoorsman, where he is very honored to be a member of the “Pro Staff”.

Captain Mike has been a fishing guide for about 30 years now. He made a full recovery from his near death accident, and by looking at him today you would never know that it even happened! He continues to live his life to the fullest and is thankful for every day he has!
