Bass Whisper Guide – Fort Lauderdale Trips

Head out with a veteran guide in Captain JP and he'll put you on some of South Florida’s most revered freshwater fish species. Whether you’re looking to catch the Florida staple: Largemouth Bass or something more exotic like Peacock bass or Clown Knifefish your guide JP knows how to do it all! When fishing the Everglades with JP you will be exploring the maze of canals and waterways that hold tons of fish. These waterways are dam regulated and the water level can change which can be a major advantage for JP and you of course. When the water levels are high the fish bask in the sun and mill around on the flats allowing you to stalk fish and target bigger fish. When the water levels go down, the fish are forced off the flats and into deeper pockets of water where they're all consolidated in the same place. Though the specimens are often smaller when the water is low, you can easily catch fish until your arms are too tired to catch anymore! The Everglades areas are one of the most popular fishing spots for JP's clients. On these private bass fishing charter, enjoy a tailor-made experience for you and your group. Cruise around the scenic waterways, learn the basics, or hone your fishing skills with tips from JP who has over 30 years of experience wearing out the Bass in these waters. All other lures, tackle, rods, reels, and other gear is included, and JP's 21ft Storm Bass Boat comes stocked with bottled water and ice, however, you are more than welcome to bring any beverage or food that you would like onboard. All you need to bring is your Florida freshwater fishing license and you'll be all set! Whether your trip is about the chance to catch a giant Florida largemouth, or just the opportunity to make memories with family and friends, rest assured JP will provide a fun, professional, and fantastic experience! JP was an absolute rockstar captain! He put safety first and made sure we had the time of our lives while catching fish left and right. Not only was he a super cool guide, but he also knew everything there was to know about the Everglades. I'm already planning my next Florida trip just so I can book with JP again. He's the man!

If you’re a fisherman then you can’t miss an opportunity with Capt JP! Due to the weather we were the only boat on the lake. The capt put us on fish everywhere we went.

My girlfriend and I booked with Captain John to have a experience a Lake Okeechobee. So far this was one of the best fishing experiences I was ever able to experience. John is filled with insightful stories and made the experience 100 times better. I enjoyed learning about my passion of fishing even more, with learning tricks of the trade as well as creating a new friendship. Captain John is a great man and even better guide. You will have an amazing day fishing and he will absolutely keep you entertained. His boat and his equipment is top notch, you absolutely will not be disappointed for this experience at all. Be ready to catch some fish! Can’t wait to see captain John again. Fish on brother!

Fishing with JP was a blast. My 14 year old grandson wanted to catch Peacock Bass and JP suggested the Everglades as our best chance. It turned out to be rainy day and JP was ready. He provided rain suits, had us strap on life vests, and we flew out to a spot on his awesome Ranger bass boat at 70 mph. We thought we were pretty good fisherman but JP showed us how the professionals do it. JP coached us both but really took extra time to work with my grandson. He has a style that will have you laughing all day and most important catching fish. We lost count after 40 on a half day trip. Caught mostly Peacock and a few Large Mouth, Blue Gill, and Jaguar. JP preached about how to avoid the pesky Gars but we landed a couple, much to his chagrin, none the less. You can’t go wrong with the Bass Whisperer.

This was the highlight of our vacation! My husband and myself enjoy fishing back at home but we had never done a fishing charter nor do we know a lot about the fish in the area. JP had every bit of equipment you could ever ask for and is very knowledgeable about everything from all the species of fish, to the water and even the different trees and plants around. Cast after cast we were reeling in different types of fish & and catching so many that we couldn’t even take pictures of them all! But not to worry he was kind enough to take as many pictures as we asked for. He is a super friendly and fun person to be out on the beautiful waters of south Florida with. He made sure that safety was a priority but that it still felt like a great adventure we will definitely be booking with him to try one of his other locations as soon as we can get back down to Florida. I looked into many different charters and I’m so glad that I went with the bass whisperer. JP is a perfect guide for any level of fisherman, our next trip we will be bringing our children as well. This is definitely who you want by your side for an amazing memory that you’ll be talking about for years to come. I highly recommend him and can completely understand why he has the best ratings around! 👍 👍 🎣

I’ll start by saying Captain JP will help you catch some BIG Bass. We caught a couple 7+ pounders. JP was very friendly and knowledgeable and definitely knows how to show you a good time. I would recommend this trip to someone who is an inexperienced angler just hoping to have a fun day in South Florida and catch some big fish. It would also be great for families. I’m a more experienced angler and was hoping for a bit of a different experience. I was hoping to use artificial lures and learn a couple new techniques, but we spent the whole day using live bait, which isn’t my style but is very effective for catching big fish. JP will likely recommend getting some wild native shiners at a local bait shop which are pricey ($24/dozen and he recommended 3 dozen). Heads-up, this comes out of your pocket (which is standard for Okeechobee tours). JP let us stay out an extra 2-hours to make sure we used all our bait which was very kind of him. An ideal trip for me would have been to get a dozen shiners to catch a few monsters and then spend the rest of the day on artificial lures. I should have been more up front about my expectations. Long story short, you’ll catch big fish with JP and have a good time, just make sure to set expectations up front.
