King fish are still in town. The bite has been amazing on the reef. Grouper season opened back up, time to fill the freezers!

WOW what a great way to start out the New Year fishing here off the coast of Fort Lauderdale. Trolling the reefs has been a bit slow this January however when we ventured out just a little deeper between 200 and 400 hundred feet of water the black fin tunas have been biting ok in the early hours of the day but seemed as we got into the afternoon hours they were biting real good. Not real sure what happen but the last few years has been producing more and more Wahoo’s also mostly in the same depth as the black fins. I’m pretty sure they are feeding on the black fins. Not just us, but all the boats seem to be bring in more and more Wahoo this being the best year I’ve seen yet. Also while the Mahi mahi are not really in season right now BUT this year they seem to be showing up way before spring and what a welcomed surprise this is always a great crowd pleaser. The bottom fishing has been expectedly good this year as lone as we have a little north current. No current no good too much current no good BUT a knot to a knot and a half good I mean real good. Catching the vermilion snappers reel good along with quite a few red snappers ranging from 8 to 20 pounds another great crowd pleaser. And the best new of all we are catching them in state waters so we get to harvest them. And once again showing up early the Greater Amber Jack SEA DONKEYS, talk about a fight! We had seen many a man give up the rod before landing one of these 30 to 80 pounders. However an unwelcomed catch nice groupers are also biting BUT Sad to say out of season. Some times I think these fish know they get to be set free. LOL

Catching a lot of numbers as the water warms up. The Big girls will be going on the beds here in a bit with that moon phase here on Lake Okeechobee. Still getting some decent numbers of peacocks- just need yourself a guide to show you where they're at! And the bite at Lake Okeechobee is starting to pick up. It's going to bust loose any day now!

Lake Okeechobee is a little slow right now. You've got to be on the water at daybreak- if you do, you'll still catch a couple chunks. And also keep your eye out for schooling bass in their summertime pattern. We need some freshwater in the lake, but good times nonetheless catching them on Rattle Trap spinnerbait and a Senko Okeechobee majic. It's a good time to take your kids, wife, father, son, etc for half a day of fishing. Then get home in time in the afternoon for some football!

Pictures tell a thousand words. Peacocks are on fire. 40 to 50 in a 4 hour trip!
These little Buddies loved it so much. Came back a day later. They got 48 on the first day and 65 the next!

July fishing off the coast of fort Lauderdale had it’s ups and it’s downs butt all in all it was a good month for catching. We had a real hard time fishing due to all the sea weed in the ocean. This was one of the toughest months we have had in a long time trying to fish and trying our best to keep the seaweed off our baits. But at the end of the month looking back while yep the seaweed was a real pain the fishing was actually pretty good. The tunas were biting well all month along with a few Wahoo’s. One new thing we tried just to get around the sea weed was anchoring up in front of a ship wreck and WOW it paid off for us with some great bottom fishing along with a couple of sailfish. Also found a Cuban raft floating! Coast Guard had marked it so they must have gotten everyone off? So the sea weed actually helped and made us think out side of the box and went back to basics and fished like we did way back when.
