Captain Joe wass born in Corpus Christi where he spent his summers fishing with his grandparents in and around Port Aransas. He started commercial fishing for flounder, drum and sheepshead in the mid-1990s, working in a fish house cutting and delivering fish shrimp crabs and the like to restaurants throughout the coastal bend. Now, he is a full-time flounder guide who knows the waters, habits, and migration patterns of flounder very well. You can find him out on the water catching fish every month of the year except November which is closed from gigging.

As a Coastal Bend native Captain Joe has fished every bay in the area, and knows the bay system extremely well. This is extremely crucial to his line of work since the best gigging takes place at night when visibilty is low.
