About Your Trip
Get hands-on with one of New England’s most iconic traditions on this interactive lobster boat trip out of Hampton, New Hampshire. This isn’t just a ride—it’s a working experience where you’ll haul traps, learn the process, and get a real feel for life on the water.
Trips run about 90 minutes (blocked as 2 hours) and take place inshore, making it a great option for families, groups, and anyone curious about how lobstering actually works.
The Experience
You’ll head out with the captain and crew to pull 10–15 lobster traps, checking each one just like a commercial lobsterman would. Along the way, you’ll learn how to identify keepers, tell male from female lobsters, measure them properly, and even help band them.
It’s a fully interactive trip—guests are encouraged to participate as much as they’d like, from hauling traps to resetting them back in the water. It’s equal parts educational and hands-on, with plenty of laughs along the way.
At the end of the trip, you’ll have the option to purchase fresh lobsters right off the boat at a great rate.
The Boat & Setup
This is a private charter experience for up to 6 passengers—your group only, no mixing with others. All licenses are included, and a mate is often on board to help keep things running smoothly and make sure everyone stays involved.
The boat is active and working, so expect to get a little wet and embrace the full experience.
Good to Know
This is a boat-rate trip (not per person), and all ages are welcome—even dogs. BYOB is allowed, so feel free to bring drinks and snacks for the ride.
Wear proper footwear with good grip, as the deck can be wet and slippery. Dress in layers, as conditions on the water can change quickly.
There is a bathroom on board, but it’s best to plan ahead and use facilities before departure when possible.
Gratuity for the mate is customary and appreciated.
If you’re looking for something different—fun, interactive, and uniquely local—this lobster trip is a great way to get out on the water and be part of the action.
