Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Captain Dylan developed a passion for the outdoors and everything the great state of Texas has to offer. Fly fishing has been the center of his focus since graduating college in 2014 where he played baseball and studied Economics at Texas A&M. From bass fishing on the lakes and rivers of the hill country to traversing the salt marshes and lagoons for redfish on the coast - Captain Dylan has immersed himself deep in the heart of Texas searching for year-round fishing opportunities.

Inevitably, he found his calling as a full-time freshwater and saltwater guide, sharing his knowledge of fly fishing and the beauty of Southeast Texas with his clients. Captain Dylan will customize a trip specific to your needs, skill level, and targeted species to ensure your day on the water is successful and most of all enjoyable. Come aboard for a day of fishing and experience the best of what Texas fly fishing has to offer.

trip description for Fly Fishing Rockport in Rockport

If you're looking for a real deal saltwater flyfishing adventure, look no further than Captain Dylan. Dylan lives and breaths flyfishing and moves all around texas to follow the best fishing in season. For his saltwater trips, Captain Dylan usually runs out of Rockport, Texas. However, dependent on various situations and/or time of year—we may fish as far south as Aransas Pass and as far north as Port O’ Connor. Primarily, we will be sight casting for redfish in shallow water with the occasional shot at Black Drum, Speckled Trout, Flounder & Sheepshead. In the spring and summer, when the tides are up, we will have opportunities at Bull Reds and Jack Crevalle in the bay. In terms of gear, Captain Dylan encourages you to bring your own gear, but can also supply you with everything you if need be. If you would prefer to bring your own rod, a 7-8 wt rod with floating line is ideal. On occasion, a larger setup (10-12 wt) may be needed for over Slot Bull Reds, Big Jacks, and even Tarpon. You can go over all these details with Dylan in the days leading up to your trip, you can let Captain Dylan know what you have and what you don't have and he can fill in the gaps. Dylan will supply his own hand-tied flies specifically crafted based on the depth and clarity of the water for the given day. Simple shrimp and crab patterns in various different colors and sizes are go-to's for the texas coast. Variations of the Clouser Minnow, Tarpon Toad, Borski Sliders, Seaducers, Kwan, Crimp, & Gurglers in different sizes (2,4,6) and colors (tan, white, purple, chartreuse, pink) are all great patterns you'll have on board as well. Captain Dylan provides ice, water, and coolers for your adventure. He recommends that you bring polarized sunglasses, your Texas fishing License, hat, sunscreen, boat shoes or non-black soled shoes, rain gear, and a lunch for full-day trips Read More

Had an amazing half day trip with Dylan on the Guad with my buddy Patrick. We hit the river fishing streamers and nymphs, landed trout after trout, got some quick pictures, and released em. Dylan was a great guide and shared some useful tips and thoughts on gear and is just a good dude to talk fishing, football, and the rest of it with. Would definitely recommend fishing with Dylan on the Guad or on the TX coast. -Jonathan with Captain Experiences
