What techniques are popular for inshore fishing in Rockport?

In Rockport, Texas, mastering the art of inshore fishing involves employing a variety of techniques tailored to the diverse habitats and species found in the area. One popular technique is drift fishing, especially effective in the expansive bays and flats around Rockport. Anglers drift along with the current, casting lures or live bait into likely spots, covering a wide area and increasing the chances of encountering feeding redfish, speckled trout, and flounder. This method allows anglers to explore different depths and structures, adapting to the ever-changing conditions of the bay.

Wade fishing is a beloved technique in Rockport, taking advantage of the numerous shallow flats and grassy areas along the shoreline. Jodie was great. Morning started out to on the coo lside and channel was rough so Jodie asked us to meet up at different location. Once we got going,Jodie was great at getting us all hooked up and fishing. If fish weren't bitting hequicly moved to a new spot, at the last spot we were hooking fish almost as fast as we could get lines in water an quickly caught our limit. He cleaned the fish and to our rental to have a great fish meal. Thanks

Our first time gigging and we all LOVED it! Oldest person was 78 yo and youngest was 10 yrs old. We didn’t see lot of flounders but still had a great time gigging fish and crabs! Capt Leaf and son, Cole, was very knowledgeable and laid back. They made us feel welcomed and communication was timely. We will be back!
