We went on a 6-hour charter with Steve. He was a friendly guy who clearly had a good amount of fishing experience and local knowledge. While we completely understand that fishing can be unpredictable and some days just don't produce, we did run into a few issues with the overall structure of the trip.
Our main concern was a lack of clear communication regarding the schedule. It felt as though Steve was only expecting a 4-hour trip rather than the 6 hours we had booked. Instead of moving to try multiple spots when things were slow, we stayed parked at just a few locations for extended periods without getting any hits. When I gently reminded him that we had booked a 6-hour excursion, it was frustrating that he seemed somewhat reluctant to finish out the remaining time.
Steve is a nice captain, but ensuring that booking lengths and expectations are aligned before heading out will make for a much better experience for future clients.
