About Your Trip

Step aboard for an action-packed river adventure with Captain Steve as you fish the storied waters of the St. Joe River year-round. Known for its strong runs and diverse species, the St. Joe offers incredible freshwater fishing opportunities in every season—and with over 41 years of experience, Captain Steve knows how to make the most of it.

Your six-hour trip begins on Steve’s 24’ Sea Ark, a sturdy and versatile river boat built to navigate
the St. Joe with precision and comfort. Outfitted with a 115 HP Suzuki 4-stroke engine, Lowrance GPS and Fish Finder, a marine radio, and even an onboard restroom, this boat is designed for both performance and convenience. It’s a perfect setup for up to four anglers looking to chase some of the Midwest’s most exciting freshwater fish.

Throughout the year, you’ll target Steelhead, Brown Trout, Walleye, Chinook Salmon, and the elusive Skamania. Each season brings its own highlights—from winter Steelhead that explode out of the water to spring Brown Trout and fall-run Kings that pull like freight trains. Captain Steve brings a range of top-tier gear to every trip, including St. Croix and HMX-Fenwick rods paired with Shimano and Abu-Garcia reels. Whether you're drifting, jigging, or side-drifting, you’ll be using the best tools in the business.

More than just a guide, Captain Steve is a true teacher of the craft. He’ll walk you through his techniques, show you how he rigs rods and reads the river, and help you understand how fish hold and move through different parts of the system. Whether you're a first-timer or a dedicated angler, Steve’s insight and instruction will help you sharpen your skills and increase your chances of landing that dream fish.

All bait, lures, rods, reels, and terminal tackle are provided, and your catch will be cleaned and filleted at the end of the trip. Just bring along your snacks, drinks, and weather-appropriate clothing—and get ready to experience some of the best freshwater fishing in the region.

If you’re looking for a high-quality, hands-on trip in the heart of the Midwest, there’s no better way to fish the St. Joe River than with Captain Steve. Year-round action, expert guidance, and serious fish await—let’s go catch 'em.
