About Your Trip

Join Captain Mike for a full day chasing Salmon and Steelhead on the St. Joseph River!

This trip focuses on the seasonal river fishery, with Salmon taking center stage during the fall before Steelhead become the primary target through the colder months. Captain Mike has years of experience following these fish and will adjust the approach based on the season, river conditions, and where the fish are holding.

You'll fish with light tackle and use
productive river techniques including back-bouncing to present your offering right where migrating fish are moving and feeding. These fish can put up an incredible fight in moving water, making this a great trip for anglers looking for an active freshwater experience.

You'll fish aboard Captain Mike's 24' Starcraft aluminum fishing boat, restored in 2019 and set up specifically for fishing the river. There's room for up to 6 guests, and the boat comes equipped with GPS, fishfinder, ice box, and a basic bucket-style toilet.

Rods, reels, and tackle are provided, so you can focus on fishing. At the end of the day, Captain Mike will also clean and fillet your catch.

Bring sunglasses, a hat, bottled water, non-spray sunscreen, food for the day, and plenty of clothing appropriate for the season. Late fall and winter days on the river can get cold, so dressing in layers is strongly recommended. Alcohol is permitted in moderation, but please avoid hard liquor and glass bottles.

Depending on where you're fishing and the time of year, you'll need the appropriate local fishing license before heading out. Captain Mike can help point you in the right direction if you're unsure what you'll need.

Come ready for a full day on the river and see why the St. Joseph is such a popular destination for hard-fighting Salmon and Steelhead!
